Court says regarding jacket:

"I think that is a doable deal."

Cool. I will start beefing up the cookie jar deposits now.

Host Hotel, one that everyone can/is willing to afford. Cookout in the parking lot. Erik's band to play.
RT to bring the okra
Host hotel, closer to RA
I like Rocket's idea about the pit area at the races
I like the jacket idea, depending on what the jacket is made of and what it would look like.
T-shirts for those that don't want a jacket.
Self guided ride routes, trying to lead people on a ride almost always ends up a big cluster F.
Track day!!!!!!! at Blackhawk.

do you think he could do it in just six hours? Maybe we should set aside a whole day for that! COURT in session.}

Culture? . . . what a cute term!

I hope that is still in the hands of Buell or HD. It would suck to see it lost like the shed that HD was started in.....

We badwebbers should buy it, and make it into a Buell museum.

Looks like should have Blake make this thread with several sub sections to keep track of things.

-Hotel
-events
-clothing
-transportation of bikes
-etc.

one thing we could do at homecoming would be to set up sections for S1's, M2's, S3's, etc, grouping them by models

like the idea of a race of champions, all on like bikes.

>>>We badwebbers should buy it, and make it into a Buell museum.

You're way behind me. . . : ) I have a sneakin' suspicion you'll love it! It may require help from owners and I have not ruled using the "Buell Historic Preservation Society" to such ends.

I think it's REALLY important, given that HD has no idea of where that small wooden shed was ever really located, to preserve the place.

At present, it looks as though Henry just walked out the door to lunch. There are stacks of Buell brake rotors, partially machined BUELL label brake caliper on the machine deck and a host of other parts sitting just as if they were being worked on. Yeah, they left that quick.

Save for the Studebaker smack dab in the middle . . . it's a long story, but if you come visit you better like old Studebakers and Datsuns. Erik, don't for goodness sake expect me to tell you why, still sees his mission on earth to create a 300HP Datsun 2 seater. You'd think at the end of a 14 hour day . . all he'd want to do is go home and crash . . . not so . . . he's obsessed with the cars and building guitars. don't let me tell you the story of sending his wife to the lumber yard for Mahogany . . . He and Aaron subscribe to the same tool storage philosophy as well. . .

: )

We're gonna have a ball!

When I was at the 100th "they" told us it was disassembled and in storage until a worker cleaning up the place chucked it in the trash....
I wonder if he still works there??

That is a true story. It was in the basement at Juneau.

As I understand it . . . no one really knows where the original was located.

1)Maybe a few group rides with dedicated group leaders, breaking out to various places.

We did this, this year. Tattoodnscrewd led a few rides thru the twisties for those that didn't head over to Ukes IIRC.

Dave Klosterman offered to lead some rides thru the Kettle Moraine this year as well, on Saturday, for those that didn't go to the races.

We have *A LOT* more time to plan this time. So We'll make sure and get those two guys to lead some rides for the 25th : )

set up a revival tent and have a "bring a squid night" and don't let them go home until they've been converted to the Buell way.

On the serious side, since it will include the 4th of July, maybe take in some related event like a parade, cookout or fireworks.

I wasn't in town so I don't know how it turned out, but BudC was trying to get some people together for a big 4th of July parade. Would be neat to see 200 Buells in a 4th of July parade. Especially considering that about a month after that a few thousand H-D's will be rolling into town.

Line the bikes up at the end according to year and model. Probably even be able to get a permit to ride an unlicensed bike in the parade.

Just a thought.

>>>>>"Buell Historic Preservation Society"

I like it too and I really want to see "The Barn" preserved. The years have passed so quickly and I know HD is not interested in funding anything on private property.

Recently, on a non-motorcycle related visit, Vickie and I were up very early in the morning and Erik comes wandering in the kitchen and wants to go for a walk.

We left the house, wandered part the charred pit where the kids had been experimenting with homemade rockets late last night and headed to the old farm house and barn.

Not only is the old "Garage" workshop in neat condition, but so is the barn with glimpses of projects that never saw the light of day peeking from under bales of hay.

It occurred to me, with all the emotional investment I've made since 1987 that I'd like to see that preserved. Erik's all for it, but his time is pretty well spoken for.

Ducati lost factories to bombing, others simply have fallen victim to time and elements. 25 years certainly isn't 105 but the ground traversed in those years is astounding and for the owner of a new 1125R super-sophisticated Buell motorcycle to really understand where we've been they have to walk through that garage and picture Henry duga getting there in the wee hours of the morning to light the stove on a frigid WI winter morning. . . and Kimmy counting funds to the penny hoping to squeak by for another week.

I'm not sure exactly what to do but I'm sure to do it right will require Buell owners. I'll be there several times in the coming months and would like to make certain the barn is ready to receive guests from around the world by next July.

I've got some ideas. . . . (that ought to scare you) and will likely call on Buell owners for support. I really like the idea of a Buell owner initiated and managed Buell Historic Preservation Society and envision that someday all the crap that haunts my basement as well as the Gess and 1313 household will be in the endowed Buell School of American Entrepreneurism.

But hey . . .that's just me.

: )

Court

P.S. - One of the most powerful images I have ever captured was early on Saturday morning. Erik wandered out of the garage, still half asleep and rolled his 100,000th Ulysses out into the daylight. As he stood there admiring it like a father would look at a new baby, I caught a couple images with the mist in the air and the old barn lightly blurred 200 yards away, across a pasture, in the background.

It's a picture that, to me, nearly evoked tears and convey the pain and joys of 25 years.

Nuff' said . . I'm about to go on a rant.

A 300 horse Datsun 2 seater hey, is that a 260Z or a 280Z?

imho the 260 was slightly prettier but the 280 was the better car.

Used to be a lot of tuning gear for those motors, trouble was there wasn't enough suspension & steering upgrades available to keep up. Happy days indeed.

ps If he wants to out the Stude' I might be interested.
