Peter Egan in Cycle World has written at least twice about saving underwear for just such an occaision. He wears them for the day and rather that packing home funky undies- pitch them in the trash. Pretty clever. Also DO NOT pack all prescription meds in one bottle to save on space- many states consider it illegal.

Just make it look like my S1 did last weekend ... (500 mile fully loaded weekend - not fun on the S1)

Or like my M2 will next weekend ... (after you add the tank bag, backpack and tent strapped over the cooler ... ) (will be an 800 mile weekend - I bet the M2 will be more comfy, last year I didn't have the Corbin seat)

My basic list of items ....

-small toolkit
-flashlight
-rain gear
-tarp
-tent
-everyday essentials(phone, address book if not in your phone, wallet, pocket knife, etc ..)
-map/directions
-camera's a good idea like mentioned above
-your favorite N/A beverage to stay hydrated
-extra gear (thicker gloves, liner, stuff in case it gets cold)
-I have been known to also pack a sleeping bag on the bike
-hygiene products
-your clothes, sandals, non-riding shoes
-music (MP3 player, ear buds or helmet speakers)
-small pillow

I am sure there is more but that is what I pack up for a camping trip .. (this is good - reminds me to remember the things I forgot last weekend when I leave next weekend)

I would ditto the tire plug/patch kit and inflater! After our trip to Homecoming and my flat tire I would NEVER go anywhere now without those 3 things! Unless of course I had 20 or 25 great Buell Rider friends with me to help bail me out when my tire went flat! And a word of advice.....steer clear of the Road Kill. I am pretty sure a piece of a claw or a tooth is what was in my tire. Mrs. 04buell

We are heading out next wednesday for 20 days

If your a coffee drinker the is a real nice ultra light and small stove called the pocket rocket then all you need is a small pot and a coffee press cup combo. We just bought a couple of thermarest pillows for the bikes.

Where are you heading?

Short trip will be to Stephenson Washington for 3 days of pavement twisties, 3 days of dirty twisties and then a side trip to the Going to the Sun Highway in Montana, then sprint back home. Now if I sell my house in decent time, then I am taking the equity and disappearing for a long winter ride, with goals on being in Walden for Fall & Moscow Russia for spring thaw. : D

Funny how this trip is still at the forefront of my mind. My gear and pack list is filling out nicely. Just waiting to ditch the house.... Come'on housing market.
