Anybody jumping on a new I-Phone? So far the reviews sorta suck, as do the prices and plans.

Thoughts? Comments?

GREAT write up in yesterdays Wall Street Journal.

Nothing I saw that'd move me from my Blackberry.

But, they are getting $150 a day to stand on line in front of the Apple store on Fifth Avenue.

I thought about standing for 3 days and using the $$ for a new iPod.

: )

I am such a SLUT !

They don't use G3 technology either, why? Nobody knows. Yahoo had "5 reasons not to buy an IPhone" yesterday.

Baaa, baaaa. Let me see a two year contract with only with ATT wireless at 60 to 100bucks a month. Then it is 500 to 600 to buy it????

The predicted battery life is only 400 charge cycles and is not user replaceable. Anyone remember the ipod battery mess. They had no intention of replacing batterys and they were considered end of life when the batterys would not hold a charge. LG or motorola were you just buy a new battery and pop it in.

Heck you can get a razor completely free with a contract.

Ipods and Iphones=Isheep.

Ya know dave thats why they make more than one kind.

I have a real problem with authority. I don't like apples solution period. There are a lot better less expensive solutions for music.

If it works for ya hang with it.

"Ipods and Iphones=Isheep. "

Priceless ;).

"I'll pass on $$$$ phones that will only get dropped or lost."

I've dropped my treo a number of times onto pavement and it still works great... Once out of the passenger seat of a lifted Bronco. Had a waitress spill an ENTIRE pitcher of cola on it too (it was face up even). Still works just fine...

I was wiping it off with a damp rag when the manager came over to offer his apologies... He said "Are you sure you want to use a damp rag on that? The moisture might get into it...". I had to laugh out loud.

It's user serviceable. Has torx head screws instead of plastic tabs that break when you take it apart. Parts are pretty cheap on ebay.

I want one... I have Verizon and I not willing to switch at this time.

Apple is selling themselves short by not offering this to multiple providers...

BTW the early Ipod problems were fixed..

Yes, you can change the battery in a Ipod your self or Pay Apple to do it...

I just really don't like what apple has done with Itunes and ACC and collaborating with the RIAA. Long live Ogg Vorbis and slashdot

I'd wait for this myself, with its open source linux based OS and NO CELL COMPANY BRANDED SOFTWARE AND LIMITATIONS
.

Sorry about yelling, kind of a sore spot there for me.

Did I mention it's open source? Goes on sale in October for $450 to $600.

Mbsween,

Mini Hijack on!

I have had the 8830 for a couple of weeks (since I discovered that the 8703e doesn't like to be run over by cars : |). I really like it. It is slightly lighter than the 8703e, but much slimmer. It's inbetween the 8703e and the Pearl in size. If you are really wanting an MP3 player and are planning to use Bluetooth headphones, I would probably recommend you wait for the Curve. The 8830 doesn't support Bluetooth headphones right now. I don't really need mine as an MP3 player (at least with headphones). I suspect though that the Curve will not have a headphone port (like the Razr). If so, you won't be able to play music through your car system. You can use the media manager to load pictures, music, and even video. It uses Micro SD cards, so you can load it with up to 4G of additional memory.

The only thing I really don't like about it is the silver color. Everything about it other than the color is great.

Mini Hijack Off!

I got caught up in the "cool cell phone" thing when I got my Razr... I've been meaning to take it in a trade it for a entry level nokia like my work phone.
My razr lasts about 2hr of talk time, or one day of stand by.
The work phone (the cheapest Nokia you can get) last damn near a week between chargings and I talk on it waaay more than my personal phone.

I use my phone for one thing... a phone.
Well that and an alarm clock away from home.
I don't even use ringtones. When I'm out I keep it on vibrate because I still find cellphones in public to be really annoying.

I have a Sony Walkman Telephone (W600i) right now. It's got more features than anything else I've ever seen. A good description would be to call it the Swiss Army Knife of telephones. The iPhone can't touch it IMO (at least not enough to justify the ridiculous price). I do however wish my phone had more memory as it's small 250MB is shared by the MP3 player, video/still camera, phonebook, etc. and is not expandable. Oh well, if I run out of songs during the work day I can always switch over to FM radio until I get home to load something new to listen to.

What I really want to see is a video phone communicator. When is one of the networks going to come out with a cellphone you can experience both audio and video during a conversation on? Bring on the Isaac Asimov s**t!

I just bought a Willys CJ-3A and it was a beautiful day for a put.

My work car blew up on the freeway yesterday, so I am "forced" to commute on my Buell for a couple weeks.

I am getting my iPhone tomorrow.

My daughter (my wife and I's first child) will be here within the next two weeks.

And July 8th we learn about the new models.

What a busy time!

And fun too.

Perhaps I am the only one...
But I miss when phones used to just that, phones.
So when I saw this one at best buy the other day I got really excited...
But surely enough it had a trick up its sleeve...

Why does no one make phones like this...?

and just focusing on making a proper phone...

iPhone

Up until very recently I had one of these...

It had been dropped, run over, crashed, submerged and was still on its original battery. Just makes phone calls

The iPhone is has a lot of very interesting features, but I won't be buying one anytime soon.

Right now, I have a new Blackjack, so I have got the communication thing covered.

xxXx

I don't use an iPod, and I don't look at my phone as an entertainment center.

I got Lil Blackie for that!

As a professional Mac user, I am more than a little fatigued by Job's endless arrogance and unfulfilled promises.

When the iPhone is offered like this, I'll probably swallow my pride, and get one.

1. No iPod
2. Cost reduced to comparable data phones
3. reasonable service plan
4. 3G enabled
5. Debugged
6. Thinner

I guess that will occur in about a year or so, just when my Blackjack contract is up.
