That's funny.. : D Profile says he's from Davenport, IA, he also doesn't know mnuch about his bikes. I asked him what Buell bike it was off of, he said, "XB12" I said, "I understand that, which one? XB12S, XB12Ss, XB12R, XB12SCG, XB12SX...?"

He says "Lightning"

When he slammed me for asking him he said, I have the part number on it, it is the Long, look at the picture...

What a schmook!

Talk about scamm, what do I do with a $5500 Cashiers Check that just showed up at my house UPS?

I don't have a real good address but it was picked up by the UPS from:
B. Kotrark
1979 Bayshore
LHC, Arizona 86404

It also shows a phone number of 728-764-3709.
Anybody out there know if thats a real address?
I received no instructions with the check, and all the Nigerians that have contacted me in the past through Craigslist, haven't been contacting me for well over a month.

I was trying to sell snowmobiles.
Does Nigeria even get snow?

It looks to be a real address. At least it came up on mapquest, and I clicked on an aerial image and it showed a house. I don't think they have snow in Lake Havasu, either.

Best take it to the bank to check if it is fraud. As I know a friend of mine got the same thing. Good thing she asked the bank to verified it and it came out fraud. Gave all the information for the bank to investigate. It is becoming hot scam methods nowadays. How can we know if it is true currency? Sad....

The bank can't tell you if it is fraudulent immediately. The bank might give you a nominal ok only to have it bounce later on. That is what the scammers are relying on. I would wait at least three or four weeks after you decide to deposit it.

Deposit the check with the bank. Let them know your concerns. DO not take any of the cash for at least 10 days. Then, verify with the bank the check has not bounced before you touch any of the money.
(I work at a Bank.)

We had a guy cash a cashier's check from a bank in Tennessee. 3 days later, it came back bad (forgery). The guy had already spent the cash -- 5 grand. Now he owes us that much more on his pickup. The check looked perfectly real and unaltered and even had the little holograms and everything. The guy thought he was getting paid in advance for mystery shopping and was supposed to go out and spend the money on clothes and then write a review of the stores. Oh, and don't forget that for some reason he also had to send $1000 real money back to them too...

Sucks for everybody.

PS) Swampy - you also might want to call the bank that issued the check and ask them to verify that it is indeed a good check.

If you get a disconnected phone number, that tells you something, eh?

Even if you get someone on the phone, and they sound like the real deal, and they tell you everythign is OK - Still follow my instructions above. Scammers can be very professional sounding.

Always treat any check, even a cashier's check, as nothing more than a promise to pay. No check in the world is "real" money.

And, its very important to express your concern about the check to your bank so they take the proper action to protect you.

I e-mailed the bank in Texas, and got a response that they were forwarding the info to their security department.

Thanks for the links everybody...
