This may sound stupid or maybe to hard to do but its worth talking about.

When I need or want a new Buell part it always needs to be ordered. "Sorry we don't stock to many Buell parts" I'm sure we have all heard that before.

Would it be possible or even worth the effort for Buell to sell "Direct" to us. I'm not saying cut your local dealer out of the picture but rather free them up to take care of their bread and butter......H-D

When you buy a Buell you would get a Dealer Code or number that you would type in every time you placed an online order. Then the Dealer would get a percent of each online sell that was placed by one of their customers. Win Win for them.....

I'm in sales and I know its great to get a factory direct order. I write the order up, it ships direct to my customer, They get the product faster because it shipped direct to them, We didn't need to handle the product at our location, less chance for damage and more time for time for in store shoppers and then I get a nice check at the end of the month! Win Win for me!

Never had that problem at Stone Mountain H-D/Buell. Smokescreen and Clown got us 3%ers covered. They simply asked us what parts do we want them to stock....and they did.

Black_sunshine, What parts did you ask them to stock? I have been pushing my local dealer when it comes to Buell stuff and they do hear what I'm saying.

The parts I'm talking about ordering direct would be beyond what someone would want to keep on the shelf. Like, I want a Uly rear fender for my Firebolt, Or a lightning front fender for my Uly, or a 07 seat for my 06 Uly......... that kind of stuff.

My wife loves to see that the UPS man has left something on the front porch, I think it should be my turn! THATS MY BOX! HANDS OFF WOMAN!!!!

Then just order it from me and will will ship it to you. Or you could just place a large order and I will bring it to March Badness...

Buell gets this stuff out the door within 24 hours of receipt of the order. Even the things that are not in stock are nearly always easy to get quickly.

Some of the folks, like Clown, who get it will listen to what you need, not blink and eye and have it for you pronto.

The direct thing has been cussed and discussed for 9 years. Using zip code, a secret dealer handshake. . they've all be discussed. To date, the dealers demand you come to the store if only to piss you off. It's getting better, it has a LONG way to go.

Thanks Court for letting me know something is on the radar. I would love to put my money into any and all the sponsors of this website but that would do nothing to make my favorite Buell/HD dealer any better. Its kinda like the "Buy American" attitude. I like to "Buy Columbus" as much as possible and if I keep being a rash on the ass of my local dealer eventually I will get some monkey butt powder sprinkled on me

This doesn't help those of us with NO DEALERS within half a days ride time. Yes, there are areas within North America with no H-D dealers within 200 miles (and no dealers worth visiting within 400 miles), and yes, people do live in these areas.

I don't really care about the lack of dealers, but if I could order direct from Buell, well...I certainly would!}

Oh, I feel sick!

Where o where would I go to get Buell parts? 1 1/2-2 Hour ride 1 way from any of 5 dealers. I could bet none of them have a set of brake pads for a Buell. Go there, order the part, wait for them to place their order, wait for their order to arrive, wait for them to call me, 1 1/2-2 hour ride 1 way to pick up part, maybe 10 days tops.

OR......

Pick a Badweb sponser, place order online, wait 3-4 days, go to front door and its on the door step! (Plus 20% Badweb discount...LOL!)

Its simple for me, its almost like direct manufacturer sales, but with more personality!

If the dealer is not stocking the parts I need to begin with, why would I want to give him a taste of any parts I ordered direct from Buell? He's being subsidized to limit his parts inventory and I'm paying for it. That's not healthy for any of us.

I'm fortunate that I work about 10 minutes away from a clueless dealer, but at least I can get filters etc. If it goes beyond that, Daves is getting the business.

the dealers demand

Since when are the dealers in a position to demand anything?

Tell them how its going to be, and if they don't like it, they can walk away. And if they walk away from Buell, they forfeit their HD business as well. Seems simple enough to me.

Let the dealers be all pissed off. What are they going to do? Switch to selling Victory??

My dealer, Buell & H-D all have my address. They all send me "stuff" in the mail all the time. It would be nice to get my "ordered" parts sent direct to my porch that way I would know when the parts are "IN"

Then you wouldn't have to walk past the bling and the salesman wouldn't have the opportunity to ask you if you're ready to trade up to a softtail.

I work at a dealership and H-D has what they call "E-com" ordering from their website. The way it works is; customer orders parts on website, parts ship to dealer, dealer receives parts and "sells" them to the customer, then turns around and ships them out to the customer. It's a very clunky system and a big PITA!

You would if you went to my local Dealer.

I was in there Yesterday. I have been trying to get a job there and I think I am closer, but I overheard the owner tell a salesperson they need to sell 3 a day to make their sales quota. After he tells them, they sit there staring at the customer pawing all over the bikes. Get over there and talk to them, nimrods. rolleyes . I think five people walked past the Buells and, nothing. A salesman I have been talking to and who is trying to help me get a job didn't see me. I was talking to a couple of guys looking at a Uly and was answering questions, Jeff came by and asked if they needed help, saw me and says, "aww, just ask him, he knows more about them than I do." : D

ummm,my reciept is dated 2-5-07 for a lockset,i've been calling my dealer and 'ya know what? Still not in after MORE THAN one month. So what's up with that?

Out the door within 24 hours??? So exactly who is sitting on my lockset? So i should believe that my dealer hasn't in fact even placed my order? i'm losing patience

>>>It's a very clunky system and a big PITA!

That system was designed to fulfill a "there, see we tried it".

I'd like a system that someone has true ownership and responsibility for. Like if it tanks, it's your job. If it goes . . . all of a sudden you're a wheel.

That's just me. . . I've always found that putting a person in charge of a program who has the most to gain/lose and has the most intimate knowledge of the problem has worked well. . . but then, I'm in construction.

It's pretty bad with Harley/Buell dealers around here as well.

Get this. My bike is a 2006 bought brand new off the showroom floor middle of January this year '07. Bike is great no complaints I love it, but 2 weeks ago I noticed the left front fork leaking.

No big deal I'll just take it in and get the seal replaced under warranty. Well I drop it off and then call them at the end of the day to ask them when it should be ready to pick it up. They tell me that they didn't tear it down because they don't have the part and won't be able to get it for 5-7 days, and that I can pick it up if I want and bring it back when they have the part.

Well I had already made plans for Daytona the weekend and I thought my plans of riding my bike there were now shot. Called 2 other dealers within an 45 min drive and same thing. So 3 in total now don't have the part and can't get it for 5-7 days.

Thankfully, my last call went to Gainesville HD/Buell where I was hoping to get Paul to see if they had the part. Nichole answered said she would look up the part and call me right back. 5 min later Nichole calls back and tells me they have the part and she can ship it out ground that afternoon so that it gets to me the next day.

The part arrived next day, and I drove down to the local dealer so that they could fix my bike without making me wait 5-7 days later. They completed the work under warranty, and I basically told them not to worry about the cost of the part. I just wanted my bike fixed.

I swear, I'm better off sticking to Paul and his crew at Gainesville Buell or places like American Sportsbike and other sponsors than relying on the stereotypical Harley Davidson dealers to support my bike.

Only thing I hate about owning a Buell so far is that if it's not something I can't wrench myself, I have to hope they have the parts in stock, and they have a mechanic that knows Buells is available.

Beastie, I cam from Brevard in Florida and am now at Ft. Gordon, GA. I still call Paul at Gainesville HD for parts because he has never failed to help me out when I needed it. Good customer service can go a long way. I wish more dealerships would get this through their heads.

Heck, I've had HD owners complain about HD dealerships due to them not having common parts for their bikes. They have the cloths though...
