Hi hereby nominate Daves from Appleton to please put together a seminar at the next dealers meeting on how to treat a Buell customers.

It is clear that:
- he knows how to promote
- knows the product
- is an enthusiast
- delivers the merchandise promptly
- communicates with the customer
- enjoys his job
.... and so on
If he can teach these traits at the dealers meeting, perhaps we can all enjoy better dealer experiences around the country.

I'm glad you participate on this board Daves..

Asbjorn

I will second that notion!

I believe this is a good time to make a "Mantown Rule".

Thanks for the vote of confidence!
I have been in many Buell meetings at the dealer shows. I often just shake my headat what some dealers are thinking.
There is no secret, there is no magic wand to making Buell work in a dealership.
You can train people til the cows come home but bottom line is, if they don't care, they aren't going to do a good job.
I don't think you can teach/train people to care.

This cannot be tought.
There are a few that grow into enthusiasts, but this is a decision that is with themselves.
If they demo a bike and it dosn't grow on them, there is nothing that someone else can do to make them like it.

I agree with the guy that said. hire for attitude and then train. If the franchise owner want the Buell brand to succeed, then he'll have to fire for attitude as well.
But therein lies the question. does the store owner or GM want it to work

Dave,

My parts came in today and are already on the bike - thanks! You ROCK!

I'd still be waiting for my dealer had I ordered through them. Now I can take K's bike out for a spin this weekend.

I agree, Dave knows how to get the job done. We need to get DaveS cloned and
have long haired Buell fanatics at EVERY SINGLE DEALERSHIP!

Dave,
Don't tell anybody anything, write a book that you can release when you get out, I asked you the same question in May, and you gave me the same answer as what you wrote above, "There is no magic wand", I have observed your passion in other people, in other lines of work, and it is a joyful thing to watch.

Everybody,
If Dave trains, there won't be enough of him to go around. So just enjoy what you get to experience, and remember it, it may not be there for your children to enjoy.

Too many of us don't do what we love and have a passion for.

Dave,
Congratulations on a passion well lived!

I've been saying for years that Buell should have hired him to teach how to sell and promote the product. Of course the shops would need to want to do that first.

It just blows me away every time that I drop in an HD/Buell dealer and they almost always seem to be too busy to stop and talk for just a minute. Dave and a couple of other Buell salesmen that I have met at the Homecomings just exude passion for the bikes. That is so much better than the typical saleman that I meet that say "I don't know s__t about Buells, hey how about a V-Rod?"

Yeah, we can put it on the shelf right beside Court's, "Remind me to tell you about...", book on Buell lore and legends.

The GM at Appleton would probably hurt someone if he lost Dave.
