The track weekend at MAM went great! We headed out of Waterloo friday night right at 6pm(right on time for once) stopped in Des Moines for some Burger King and made it to the hotel about 11:30. Got our stuff in our rooms and went to sleep. As usual I had a hard time getting any sleep. I'm like a kid on Xmas eve before a track day. At least I remembered to get a wake up call for 5:30 am! Sat. started out with cool, partly cloudy weather. We got breakfast at the little cafe by the hotel and headed down to the track. It took a while to get all 9 bikes out of the trailer and the bigtop tent set up but we had lot's of help with us so it went great. Got the bikes thru tech and waited for the track to open. On Sat they had 4 groups running so it was 20 min on the track and an hour off the track. Gave us plenty of time to make friends and hang out between sessions. We had riders in two of the groups so that made it so we could get some video and pictures of us on the track. Craig is going to get them posted as soon as he can. They kept the track open until about 6:30 sat night.
Most of our group went back to the hotel cafe for some supper and then pretty much straight to our rooms. I slept like a deadman. The 5:30 wake up call came waaay too soon. Had some breakfast at the cafe(by now our home away from home)and headed back to the track for day 2! The weather was great! Cool and partly sunny. We had 4 more riders join the Waterloo gang to make us a total of 13. Good thing I don't beleive in bad luck numbers and other stuff like that
Anyway we weren't 13 for long, Lurch came rolling in on his black Busa. We got to meet the real supermodel Sunday's track sessions went great, I love to mix it up with all the other brands of bikes. Of course a couple times Sean and Jason from Edge racing had to come out and blow by me on an SV650, I think they just like to pick on me. We did have one Buell breakdown, Doug spit the belt off his Firebolt. Jim from Algona was done for the day anyway so we robbed his belt and got Doug back up and running in about a half an hour. We rode til about 5:00 and then had to load all the bikes and take down the tent. I think we left the track a little after 6:00. Finally got home right at midnight. All in all it was a GREAT weekend, none of our group crashed,no major breakdowns,we all got faster and everyone got along. Sean and the whole crew from Edge did a great job and I'm looking forward to giving them more of my money next season. We'll have the pictures up later today I hope.

http://www.xat.com

Get the jpeg optimizer or image optimizer.

No offense intended at all... I'd really like to see the pics have a permanent home here on BadWeB.

Any pic 640x480 or smaller, run through the jpeg optimizer at 70-80% quality and 50-70% magicompression will easily make the 50KB limit.

Thanks Mike! I sent some more but they came back, too big to email?
That's me on the X1 being dogged by my boss on the Firebolt. Don't worry,I didn't let him get past me.

Oh the joys of hotmail. It probably rejected the others because they're too big. My total account size has to stay under 2mb and I probably have about half of that used up with saved emails, so it doesn't take many big pictures to stop up my inbox. If you want to send them to me one at a time I'll be glad to resize a few more.

P.S. If you hadn't told me any different I would have believed you had just passed him on the outside! :)

No I can keep him behind me pretty much all the time. The race kit and sticky tires we put on the Bolt helped him close in on me from previous track days. I'm going to have to kick it up to the next level if I want to keep bragging rights around here(at the dealership). I'm planning on riding a XB9S next year so we'll see what happens. I might have to keep the good ole X1 around just as a track bike. It was pretty funny, a guy I had been dicing it up with all day Saturday on his R1 came over and asked what I had done to the motor of the X1 to make it so fast. I told him the truth, a Force pipe,ECM and air filter. The motor hasn't been opened up or any mods other that that. Stock suspension too. Needless to say he was faster down the 2220 foot straight but I'd usually be back past him by turn 4 or 5.
