Did anyone watch NBC World News last night ? They did a bit on 'What Would Jesus Drive'? I don't believe in gas guzzlers myself unless you really need them to get work done, but I thought that was hysterical...
I think he would probably drive a donkey with a Harley-Davidson sticker on it !!! Hahahahahahahaha !

Please....someone make the H2 Hummer go away. 
Just as I thought a New Jersey housewife talking on a cellphone in NYC traffic could do no better than using the Lincoln Agitator as the wearpon of choice along comes the "cheap" hummer.
My neighbor got 2 black ones with BLACK windows 2 weeks ago and his house, surrounded by a guarded wall, looks like an Israeli military encampment.
The H2 is now threatening to replace the "my daddy's company leased it for me" 3 Series BMW as the NYC teeny bopper vehicle.
Now...I CAN see that stretch Hummer as the ultimate TEAM EVLES Bonneville pit vehicle.

I'm in the process of looking for a new car and I confess, in NYC, to taking on a bit of a "anti-yuppie" stance in the selection process.
I keep the Ford F-250HD, driven about once a month, in the driveway just to agrivate the neighbors with all their S500's, SL500's, ML's and Hummers.
Am I turning into a social rebel ? |

You're going to be a stone's throw from Exit 8 in Stamford so we have options. I may collect you just for the grins of driving you through the Bronx in a pickup truck....
I am fashioning a crude "TEXAN ON BOARD" sign for the window.......this'll be more fun that Tobasco at an intestinal disorder recovery group meeting. |

I used to have a Sales Rep in NYC with a real sense of humor. Still can't get used to the concept of double and triple parking though. |

Texas not only rocks, if memory serves me correctly, it is the only State in the Union where a property owner not only owns the surface but the mineral rights of all below. Now, that is something to be proud of considering the active opposition. |

Nevco, I'm pretty sure all the states work that way. In some states the mineral estate can be permanently severed from the surface estate; Texas is one of those states but Louisiana, for example, is not. In other words, if I owned a big ranch in Texas (which I don't) and decided to sell it to you, I could sell you the surface and keep the minerals for myself. Then if Road Thing Oil & Gas made a big discovery on your new ranch, your share of the royalty income would be somewhere between zero and nothing. You would be allowed to charge RTO&G for damage to the surface, ingress and egress, pipeline rights-of-way, etc., but the oil and gas would be MINE, ALL MINE!!! Just call me J.R.Thing...
Moral of the story: The meek may very well inherit the earth, but they might not get the mineral rights!
The USA is one of only two countries in the world of which I am aware (the other is Canada) where private citizens are allowed to own ANY of the mineral rights under their land! If you happen to be, say, a rice farmer in Indonesia and Pertamina(the State oil company) decides to lease your mineral rights to, say, Shell Oil and Shell Oil makes a humongous discovery right under your best rice paddy, you get exactly ZERO rupias. If you're lucky, Shell Oil might build you a new grass hut to live in, but that's about it.
Is this a great country or what??

Thanks, I got the info from a land baron with ranches in TX and AZ. The gent befriended us while we stayed at one of his motels. He most certainly praised TX as being the last remaining vestige of both Freedom and land rights in this country. Even took us to see the AZ ranch which I swear makes Long Island pale in size.

Actually, I seem to remember the story behind the "ten-gallon hat" this way: Way back in the day, the Mexican vaqueros decorated their hat bands with silver ornaments kinda like those conchos the HD folks put on their leather stuff. You know, the round silver medallion thingies? They were called "galons". The more "galons", the cooler the sombrero. Ten was about the most galons you could put on a hatband, so it was the ultimate in cool. The gringo vaqueros (that's the "anglo cowboys" to you & me) liked the hats but corrupted the phrase "sombrero con diez galons" to "ten gallon hat".
So it has nothing to do with hat size (just for the record, I wear a Shoei XL)!

If it's fun, Mrs. Grundy will complain about it. Her congresscritter listens to HER because she is the squeaky wheel. I am too busy having fun to care, then find myself screwed 'cause I wasn't paying attention.. Skydiving banned? no, but places to do it are getting harder to find. Hang Gliders are in constant battle to keep good flying sites. They can usually be seen from the road, at least in the landing areas, and have learned to be ambassadors for the sport. See USHGA.
I'm a pro driver. 50-100 miles a day after the commute. Downtown rush hour traffic, suburban hoods. I give the 1 finger salute 2-3 times a day to stop sign runners, those that pass with roaring ($300 sure to get ya 50hp LOL)exhaust tips on their Hondas & then slow to 10 under the speed limit, etc. etc. All in cages. When a Bike does dumb in front of me I go "idiot" and wish I was riding.
Noise & scary looking moves (like leaning into a turn lol) freak Mrs. Grundy.
I think the "noise is my pal" 'tude is a real problem in this game and...what? 5 more hp from the bub header on my M2? where do I get it? |

The places to do anything are getting slimmer, it seems.
I know I spent about $850 for essentially nothing but a midrange boost, a cool look, and more noise...seems ridiculous put into perspective...but someday all that noise will support "real" gains  |

Noise? I got noise--the Buell Pro Race kit has got to be the loudest pipe I've ever run on a bike--after a hundred miles my ears ring for about two-and-a-half days. I guess it's psychological--'cause I feel safer knowing the cagers hear me coming--better than the horn for waking up Homer-asleep-at-the-now-green-traffic-light...
BY the way--that seems to be the latest fad here in S. FL--wait at least eight seconds after the light changes--just to be sure only one person other than yerselfish gets through any light... |

Loud pipes do less to irritate/alienate I feel than obnoxious driving (which I was unfortunate enough to witness several times today on my "relaxing" Sunday drive with a group of British Bike Riders here in S FL.) For the Second time guns were produced and waved about due to some overly agressive passing manuevers on the biker's part--then a few moments later an aborted pass caused one fellow on a Valkyrie to lock it up at about seventy--then I was just about run into the grass at about ninety in the middle of a sweeper by a zealous V-maxer--It's bad enough not being as quick as the Speed triple/ Ducati crowd I ride with--but these guys seem to have forgotten some fairly basic Group-riding techniques--
Perhaps not quite on the Hooligan thread--but we do represent cyclist in general--especially in pack formation. Today I decided I can get in plenty of trouble all by my lonesome--so my days of pack riding will be fewer and farther between.
I agree I really should wear some earplugs--especially when it's chore time on the weekend! |

Yeah...a couple guys I used to ride with would cross the centerline in turns with reckless abandon when they got aggressive. Cars would be forced to the shoulder...and I go along at the same speed cutting the corner in my own lane. How riders like that don't get regularly plowed is beyond me. |

They do get plowed with moderate regularity and it really sucks when they take out another biker head on. Seen it happen too many times. Viva la Federales!!! |
