You know you own a Buell when...

You can instantly tell the difference between:
DOT 4 Brake Fluid
Harley Sport Trans
Harley 20w50
Mobil 1 Synthetic (gear and motor oil)
and Locktite Red, Green, and Blue
...

By TASTE!

Pulling a wheelie beside a little boy in his moms minivan, holding his ears and wishing he can be me when he grows up.

You know you own a Buell when...

...when people stop you at traffic lights to tell you parts fell off your bike.

When you've burnt your carpal tunnel numbed fingers trying to turn the rear cylinder cooling fins onto reserve.
When you put notches on your handgrips for the number of times the car next to you has rear ended the car in front of it.

you know you own a buell when your 91 chev lumina with a 3.1 v-6 gets better gas mileage, towing a trailer.

Ken, you might want to look into that. My Cyclone sees ~45mpg when blasting around town and 50mpg+ on the highway.

lucky you guys, i got an 01 M2 with lightning cams and a thunderslide jet kit. i know its on the rich side, runs like shit in 80 degree plus weather, but its uncontrolable by comparison in 60 degree weather. i see 20 -25 mp. then again, that might have something to do with that uncontrollable twitch i have in my right wrist,.....

Ken, ditch the thunderslide. Find a sporty owner with drag pipes who'll trade you for his stock CV, take it to a dyno and change the jets till it makes the most power.
The only time I got 25MPG was running 5000+RPM all day on track days. No amount of playing in the street or even going drag racing nets me <40MPG.

You have as many miles walking in your boots as riding in them.

You don't dare leave the house on the Buell without your cell phone.

You either:
a. Carefully inspect your bike before riding, looking for loose parts.
b. Have had parts fall off your motorcyle while riding.

You know what the INSIDE of you engine looks like, but you've never done any serious mods.

You park your bike over a drip pan.

Guys with the same brand think they have lots of trouble free miles if the number is greater than 10,000.

You loved your bike, but now feel like a disillusioned fool.

You're looking at new bikes.

The Thunderslide kit works great, given it's properly installed/tuned. I have one...and it made a huge difference for the better.

When people often ask "you got that fixed yet?"

i love the t'slide, dont get me wrong. it makes awesome power when the weather is right (not the kit, but the tune, this i realize) hey, theres one right there, (you wait to go racing till the weather matches your bikes tune). anyway, im not buellschitting here, if i see 110 miles on a tank (not counting reserve), its all highway or cruising time. i cant believe anyone could see double my gas mileage. any ideas?

Even mostly cruising around town I see around 40mpg...I spent a couple weeks commuting with my girl on back, and only then did the mileage drastically go down.

tires and vent hose fine, and no fuel leak. definately running a tad rich, with 45 pilot and 190 main. even running rich doesnt account for a loss of almost 20 mpg, i think you guys are fulla schit.

Ok. Calm down. First of all you have a Stage 7 kit whatever the hell that is. (It did give me and the parts guys a good laugh) Your main jet is too large also. Cut it to a 185. Do you have a adjustable needle. If so move the c-clip up to lean it out. And check your air preassure in your tires. I have Ported heads and soon to have my new pistons and cyl in tonight and the worst I have seen is 35 mpg. That was untill I had her on the dyno and tuned her up with the sniffer.
Did you do the work yourself?

first of all, i get to be pissy, its cold as hell up here and im going through withdrawal. secondly, yeah, the stage seven thing was an idiot thing to say, i think i was thinking of my FZR when i wrote that long ago, but im glad it made you laugh. i didnt do the work, my dealership did, along with two dyno tuning sessions. if they used a sniffer, they didnt tell me about it. i think they just tuned it for peak hp, and it was relatively cold (early spring in WI) when they did it. i was just happier than a pig in schit with 85 rwhp on a basically stock M2, so i didnt ask any questions. the bike is three hours away right now, otherwise i would try what you suggest, put on a full tank, don my cold weather gear and test it out. thanks spidey

It's not a twin tail...but she doesn't complain...hell, it doesn't even have passenger pegs.

She's a good woman
