Performance Mods!: | None needed or wanted. I have no use for a bike that goes 150mph and gets 25 mpg. |
Problems/Miles (Please be specific): | 5000 miles- fitting on right front side of rear cylinder loose. 5450 miles- both rockerboxs leaking. LC display in speedo got wet and is slowly comming back to life. 5700 miles, LC display normal again. 10'000 miles, switching to Mobil 1 synthetic oil. @15000 miles, lost turn signal function in a severe thunderstorm. Came back after bike dried out. Passing 20,000 miles this week. 25k rear cylinder leaking at bottom. Charging system has signed off also. Lost one bolt out of the headlight bracket. Extended warranty paperwork says both the stator and regulator were fried. 25000 miles belt dies. 27000 miles Front cyl leaking at base gasket.Turn signals still go inop if run in severe rain. Belt squeeks pretty good too. 34000 miles speedo comes and goes 35000 speedo dead. 40,000 miles Belt blows again. Bike gets parked in '04, my problem not bikes. |
Other Mods/Misc/Customization.: | Tore out shifter peg on a lump of sand. Replaced with squared off chrome n rubber one off dealers wall. New peg reaches back about an inch further. It's perfect. Created a handlebar mounted fairing out of a junkyard S-3, looks nice, fits nice, no stability problems at up to 100 mph. Put on some soft bags by Nelson/Rigg. Not impressed, faded severly after a few weeks and the stitching holding the zippers has rotted off. Now bringing it back to life after 3 year layoff. Converting to chain with Baker kit, new paint, recovered seat. |
Favorite Rides (Roads and Routes): | Vail to Sonoita. 30 miles of Long swoopy curves. Note, this road now severly overpatrolled by sheriffs and border patrol. Funs gone. |
Why I do/don't ride a Buell: | Almost didn't. Had a HORRIBLE time with a Blast. Figured the only way I could get rid of it was to trade it in. With the exception of parking lot turning radius and (very)slightly lower fuel economy the M2 is superior in every respect. |
How can Buell improve their motorcycles?: | Cleaner fit between seat and bodywork. Redesigned oil filter mount so you don't dump oil when changing filters. Standardize all the nuts and bolts. Go metric or standard 100%. How bout a tranny dump plug that is accessable without disassembling the exaust? Maybe a clear strip down the center of the oil tank for easy level checking |
Life History/Philosophy: | Success won't find you- you have to chase it down! |
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): | 110 mph It'll go faster, I won't |
Preferred engine oil (brand/grade): | H/D 50wt |
