I currently ride a '98 S3T and I was hoping to get a new S3T either this year or next. The bikes have gotten a lot better quality control and refinement in the past few years and I also want EFI, so I want to upgrade. So I turned to www.buell.com, only to find that the S3 is no longer listed! They only have the Blast and the Firebolt! I don't want those. I want the S3T. What's happening? I assume that there must be some S3Ts in stock at some dealers somewhere... but has Buell discontinued this model? Will it be back in '04, or is this it? Thanks for any info on this! | ||

Hay Thetourist, I saw a beautiful Blue 2002 S3T (new)in Nashville, Tn at Boswell's for less than $10,000. If I wasn't still in love with my '98 S3T, I would have sniffed a little harder ... I was there to ride the XB9R. ERICK | ||

Tourist i hate to be the one to tell ya but..... Are you sitting down? Of course you are, you're at a computer  All tube frame V-Twin Buells have been discontinued for 2003 This will include the M2 Cyclone the X1 Lightning and yes the ever popular S3 thunderbolt. Better you heard it from me then out there on the streets. | ||

To be fair, as Erick noted, you can find some great deal on the now-discontinued Buells if you look, and there is also a rumor, one that I'm sure has some substance, of a XB-based sport tourer in the works. ::thinking of getting a S3T himself:: Bryan | ||

The XB9R is new. The XB9S is supposed to be the replacement for the X1. The rumors are hinting at the M2/S3 replacement. If the rumors are correct, then maybe the format of the M2/S2 replacement bike will be similar to the XB9R/XB9S comparison: same basic bike, different ergs, lights, fairing/flyscreen. I'm guessing a 55" wheelbase, fairing and bags = S3 replacement, tweak the footpeg placement and swap a flyscreen for the fairing for the M2 replacement. Just speculations on my part though. If you want a current format S3 though, then do like others have suggested and buy existing inventory. |
