people often feel their lives are not an interesting enough story -- sad, ain't it? and very often untrue
Sad part is people feel some crappy celebrity's life story IS interesting. I prefer to listen to older people at times. They have some stories to tell and will gladly tell it you those who will listen. |

cataract- while i agree to some degree with what you're saying, i learned, when i was very young, that a lot of sh*tslingers and a*sholes live very llong lives, and when they're old and gray, their BS seems more plausible, and there are fewer of their contemporaries around to contradict their tales.
just because someone's old, it doesan't mean they're not a total numbnuts BSer |

Very true. I guess I came off sounding like I'd believe anything said. I probably should have said listening to those I know personally. |

0331 in the Marine Corps, Heavy Machine Gunner. I live in a town that has Army ROTC. It is funny because those guys think they are already officers. I see them wear their fatigues to the bar, not cool! In the Marine Corps you can get in big trouble for wearing your Camies off base.

I did ROTC back in the 80s...what a nerdmare.

Not Delayed Stress, but "Delayed B.S. Syndrome." Lotta people who felt guilty for not serving in Vietnam have it.
The worse MOS was a "critical" MOS. Combat folks rotated out on schedule, support people with their trousers bloused to keep the ants from crawling up their legs and eating their candy *ss*s got involuntary extensions. A down side to the cush ride they thought they had.
Brownshoe MOS: OP5D 1968-69; my job was perfect except for my, not fear of flying, fear of crashing. Still trying to figure out how what was supposed to be simple two year active duty enlistment in a Naval Air Reserve program became such a time sponge. |

You'll see quite a few so called "POGes" (persons other than grunts) come back from this war who have been through the thick of it.
A fellow Crashcrewman (firefighter MOS 7051) volunteered to go and found himself with 1stMarDiv...
I agree that most people are humble about their combat experience, but there will be quite a few exceptions in regard to the what was your MOS rule with this war... |

There is only one BN in the 501st. 1/501 ABN INF was reactivated in 1989 in Ft. Richardson, AK. We were formed from three companies of Airborne troopers that were formerly the Charlie Co. of each of the leg bats in Alaska. 2/17 INF was redesignated 1/501, 1/17 INF and 4/9 INF donated their Cco's to the cause. I was in Cco 2/17 so the other two just joined us, we sent our entire HHC to jump school as well, but they were still pouges.
