No not ideology but turning your bike. I find I am much more comfortable leaning my bike hard to the left than hard to the right, the chicken stipes confirm this. I think it has to do with the throttle hand or maybe the fact that I'm left handed. Anybody else notice this, one way or the other ?

Right is much better for me.
I'm right-handed. I need a left-biased track to practice on.

I'm right handed and find turning left to be easier. Now we just need a leftie that finds right turns easier : D

That would be me lake. I am left handed but find right turns easier. But it may be my subconcsious, When I was a kid I was riding a bicycle and turning left around a blind corner riding around a building, and wham. someone opened a door right infront of me.

Hmmm, made me think about the fact that most mx tracks i ran at in the 70s, 80s, and 90s were counter clockwise so there would have to be more lefts than rights, maybe that's it. I did do some oval track ice racing a couple winters, man that was fun, nothing like full lock slides at 60 mph +.

Similar to Jugallo94, I had my worst ever fall on the right side, so I don't push as hard on that side.

KenB,

Something else may enter into this. On left hand turns, if you lowside, you go off the road. On right hand turns, if you lowside, you go into oncoming traffic.

Maybe something in your subconcious realizes this and holds you back a little.

I've noticed the same thing with my riding, but I'm also a lefty, so that might explain it too.

Most people are better at left handers from what I hear. That holds true in cars as well, so it wouldn't make sense that it's a throttle thing.

You have a much better overview of a left hand turn - if you late apex you have a good chance of seeing most of the turn before you initiate.

Could be that, or it could have to do with Earth rotation, Solar Solstice and such : D

That said, I'm better at left turns, but most likely because Pocono - the track where I've done the most track days - has mostly left turns.

Well for me when I'm riding my motocross on the track it's easier turning left but on the road with a sport bike it was right until I did the race school on a counter clock wise track the left got better but right still feel better.

I think on the road it's mostly cause almost every exit witch are usually the sharpest turn are going right so we get more practice turning right.
My 2 cents

I like Henrik's explanation "view of the turn" for road riding at least, I would have to do a track day to confirn that. I just feel all jammed up when I hang off to the right.

I drag BOTH sides, but, the left feels better by far, thus I need a new left boot.....and ANOTHER left peg....

I think I need rear sets....

I agree with Whodom and Henrik. Why is the lean angle less to the right when all turns in the US are tighter to the right?

I turn much better, farther & quicker to the right. I keep starting my left turns too soon which messes me up. I hang to the right better as well.
I'm right handed.

Airplanes too....ever tried a full power stall with right rudder....still makes be shudder. Dropping a wing on the left is fun, but I don't much care for the udder.

Humans are commonly right handers and left turners.
People in the desert, without orientation, have the tendency to walk in circles over left.
Mounting on a horse back goes since ages from the left side of the horse: Swinging into the saddle with a left turn.
Race tracks are mostly turning anti clockwise.
Tools which needs the force of the stronger right arm and a body swing for more speed: Spear, sword, ax, golf stick, fishing rod etc.
And David killed Goliath with his right handed sling and the short left turn of his body swing. I know for sure, because the Arab kids do still the same thing with their stone throwing slings.
Right handers are mostly also right footers. And we can turn faster to left because our right leg is stronger. We like the fastest way and we become accustomed to that.

I'm replacing the rear tire for the first time, 3500 miles on the original D207, and the tread wear is interesting. The center is gone of course, but there is more wear on the right than on the left. I'm right handed, and feel more comfortable making harder right turns.
