I ahd my psyc eval for the police dept today. Im still laughing over some of my answers. I don't know what i was thinking. The eval was 800 questions long and some picture drawing with a 10 minute interview with a head doc. Anyway the three questions i think i blew were

Some hispanic people_______ I said "dont speak spanish

When I see a "queer" I ______ I said "i say hello"

Male officers are _________ I said "men"

I don't see how they can really evaluate someone based on the questions. I had to draw a picture of a house.... why??? So i drew a nice house with a garage some flowers a mailbox and a xb9s in the driveway LOL. I wonder how she (the psyc) will interpret that?? Oh well

they should tell you if u failed the psyc. Here in my town, you have to pass the initial interview with the detectives doing the background check, if everything is clean then they send you to something called work steps, which is some minor excersises kinda like a stress test. If u pass then u get an Interview with a panel, if u pass the interview u go to the psyc, pass the psyc get a medical exam and if medical exam is good ur done and scheduled for the academy. So its pretty easy to know where u failed.

I took the Psyc Eval for San Diego PD back in '92. "we regret to inform you that we are unable to accept you for our program on the basis that you are not afraid of being shot. This is a trait that does not breed caution in our recruits. Thank you for applying." The psyc eval was done after the panel interview and a run through a military style Basic Training obstical course that was done on the same day.

It is likely a good sign if you fail a psych exam. They have absolutely NO actual technology of the mind, only theories and opinions. I think the high point of all the studies psychologists have ever made was how to keep people from staying too long in fast food restaurants. They made the seating uncomfortable. Millions spent. Likely the only valid contribution the field ever made to society in general. Without government subsidation there would probably be NO psychologists or psychiatrists, as the general public will only buy their bull$h!t for about 30 seconds!

Besides, you must be crazy to begin with - you ride one of those bizarre American Sport-type motorcycles!

I read a really interesting article by sci-fi author Jerry Pournelle some years ago. He is someone who is eminently qualified to speak on the validity of psychology.

When Pournelle was growing up, his parents were professors at a university, and consequently he earned several degrees. IIRC his first degree was in math. He figured "what the heck", continued school and got a degree in psychology. (It turns out he acquired B.S.'s in psychology and mathematics, an M.S. in experimental statistics and systems engineering, and two PhDs: psychology and political science.)

He commented on how the psychiatry professors considered themselves to be "scientists" despite having no concept of the scientific method, etc. He pretty much said that compared to his other degrees, psychology was a joke.

It would be a much better joke, if it wasn't so freaking harmful! There was a lot of lobbying done by these people back in the early '60's, and they got laws passed that allowed psychologists to practice their "profession" in public schools, and they have been there since. SAT scores have been steadily dropping since that very day! Crime has steadily risen, drug use is rampant, yet they need even more $ to "handle the problems in our schools". It would seem we as taxpayers are paying them to make things worse, and when they get worse , the say they need more $! WTF!
Psychiatrists, on the other hand, are the guys that brought us the Columbine shootings, as ALL of the perpetrators of that scene were on psychiatric drugs and under a "doctor's care"

Oh man - I'm sorry here - ya got me on a rant and here it is Spring with good riding weather rolling in all over.

Go to www.cchr.org - those guys are the only ones with enough balls to go after psychiatry and show what they are really up to.

The house drawing is actually a very useful tool. It provides excellent insight on how you feel about your home life. By drawing a nice, detailed house with your XB in the driveway, you showed the Dr. that you are very content with your home life, and that you love your XB.

Psyc tests are hilarious, I have taken several & never had a problem passing them. Most arent looking for right or wrong answers, just consistency. Notice how they will aske the same questions over & over? Or they will change the wording justa bit..I love my mother more than my father..yes or no? And later they will switch the 2.

Had to take several when I worked for the Nuclear Power plants back in the mid 80's. Didnt mind them but 300+ questions gets real old.
Took one for the police exam here in town 3 years ago & passed that as well as the background check. I screwed up on the multiple interview portion, a little too gung ho I think but they never tell you the exact reason why you are finally declined.

A day or two after my accident, my sister visited me in the hospital. I was drugged to the gills, a bit loopy, and she called me the Black Knight. Apparently, this led to the two of us quoting a good majority of the movie. I don't remember much, but i do recall the looks on everyone else's face. They must have thought we were absolutely bollocks. Later, my sister brought the movie in and we watched it again.
"None shall pass."
"It's only a flesh wound."
"There are some who call me...Tim?"
"But lookit the teef on 'at fing...Lookit the bones!"
"But father, I don't want to get married. I want to sing..."
"Oh, no,no, there'll be none of that!"
"Only a bunny rabbit. I warned ye!"
"ARRRGggg..."
I'll stop now. I think I've proven my insanity.
