So I'm tracing down my blinker problem on the red bike - seems water got in one bulb - blew it, a wire broke on another - I get the one side working and repeat the steps checking and working on the other side - cheep lights I picked up purposely to save cost on drops/knockovers in the city from city parking - lol - anyway - I think I'm done turn the key - and now neither side works - I cuss and just figure I 'll go get new signals - I turn the bike over and the idle goes real high and I've actually got to turn it down just to shift the bike - note turn back up when fixed - I just changed the boot with the oil, anybody have a clue whats going on - gremlins - lol - I 'll get it figured, but any help would be appreciated from the experienced here - for what I should check first. I'd post in the KV but there is no gremlin section.

Well thats what possibility I was trying to elliminate by replacing the carb vacuum plug and the intake boot. Do you think the metal intake itself has gone loose? Geeze they just rebuilt the bottom end - so I'll check that first thing in the morn before going to work - that would leave the electrical - do you think rain seeped in and shorted the flasher - I figure all the blinkers may be shot - it was like a surge or something - first the flasher was at least buzzing - now nothing and all 4 are dead - both may be shot from a short due to watter or the battery going south - it is 5 yrs old but has been as constant as the day so far - hmmm? Just a lot of possibilities - and it all started after a day out in the rain - sigh - it could all be inner related some how - or not - lol

Hey Ez, Do you have a digital multi meter. If so se if you are getting voltage to each turn signal socket when they are turned on. You should get voltage from so many volts and then to nothing. If not work you way back to the fuse box and the flasher. Electrical gremlins suck. Eliminate one thing at a time. I wouldn't think that all your turn signals would go bad at once. As for the High idle. I know you know how to check for intake leaks. Spray carb cleaner all around the intake boot and manifold. If it starts to change it idle speed you know you have a leak. Use your shop manual to help you trace where each wire goes to. If you don't have a shop manual get one. Hey why you are at it check out my new baby I got myself for xmas. I have a pic in my profile on the badweb. Take care and email me what you find out or if you have any questions on the electrical stuff. I am a out of work electrician. Long story. brupska

You can make a jumper, and bypass the flasher module to see if the bulbs are still working. May take some trial and error but it will tell you quick if the flasher is bad.
