This place has been dead for almost a week now, which is troublesome to me because I usually browse the forum when I need a break at work. Fortunately there has been plenty in the news since Friday to keep me occupied(which does not need discussed here), but I figured I'd post some of the pictures I've saved on my work computer as a conversation starter.

They're all S1s.... I'm a little biased.

XB engine S1

M2 for a change, with a monster seat and some X1 headers squeezed under the old style frame.

This one's actually an S3, but I love the seat.

Here's an X1, so maybe I'm not as S1 biased as I though.

and the prettiest for last. Can't get enough of this color scheme on these bikes.

It's a good looking bike! I've got a few more pictures of it, but I didn't want to overdo the post with too many pictures of one bike. The black forks, top triples, and polished swingarm really look good on it.

We are still here. Most do daily stuff via Facebook now adays.
Here is my inspiration but it’s actually an S3 to start with.

I assumed Facebook took over a good bit of the conversation from here, but I noticed a distinct drop in activity about 2 months ago. I was off work for 3 weeks after my son was born, since then it's been big time slow, and then for the past week there has been 0 posts.

" She's so fine there's no telling where the money went."
Isn't that the truth.... out of curiosity, the other day I added up my motorcycle related ebay purchases since I bought my bike back in 2016. It wasn't a good number haha.

I have never added up what I have put into my S1. I guess excluding the original price roughly $12,000! But dont regret any of it.

Someday I'll hopefully have $12k to put into my S1. I'll likely use it towards a used superduke to keep the S1 company in the garage.

Alot of my costs were learning curve costs. Like buying 5 different sets of bars and 3-4 seats etc looking to see what works lol. If I could have known exactly what to buy probably half my cost would have disappeared

I sometimes think about buying a newer more reliable bike just to have it there when I need it, but then I realize that time spent riding is valuable as well. And time not spent riding Buell is time wasted.

Anyway, I posted these on Facebook a week or so ago. So you've probably seen them, but here's a few better pictures of the S1 I bought over the summer. Yes, the hypercharger is coming off, don't worry.

I've already sourced a new:

- swingarm (stock swingarm, but one that is completely new)
- ham can air cleaner with S1 Lightning insert thingy (just looking for the off set backing plate now)
- new original brake disc (I don't really like how the wavy version looks on this classic bike)

I dont want to know how much I have into mine.... I'm keeping track though on my new S1 build.

I will say... keep posting in the forums or they will disappear. I'll admit I'm on Facebook all the time, but I feel the forums are so much better for keeping track of information! People left our mustang forum for Facebook so the deleted it!

Yeah, this forum is (or at least was) much better than FB. Been such a valuable resource for someone (like me) who is learning about these bikes.

"but here's a few better pictures of the S1 I bought over the summer"

I think I saw that one! Looks almost identical to mine when I bought it, although mine came with a forcewinder intake and a V&H exhaust. That hamcan will look good on there. Feel free to send me that brake rotor!

I joined a few of the facebook groups, but the conversations are hard to follow since they're in little batches of comments, and half of the posts are just "here's my new bike!", and I love seeing them all, but I agree the forum is better when it comes to actual information. Facebook doesn't compare when it comes to finding information.

A 2nd bike would be nice, mostly just so I could take my time when I work on the S1. My time is limited, so I've gotta try to wrap up everything I do as quickly as possible, because if the bike isn't together, I'm stuck driving the truck.

My S1 is running great right now, but I haven't had a whole lot of time any of my bikes. I'm still here everyday looking at posts and researching random things.....just not posting much. That only seems to happen when something is broken.....which its not : )

Maybe its time to plan a winter project, but still have another ~2 months before I have to park the S1 and reach for the heated hand grips of the BMW

Was just thinking about putting my heated grips back on yesterday. This morning before I left for work I cut up and bent a little fender extender that sticks maybe 4 or 5" past my license plate to keep my back dry now that it's been raining a bit more and the roads have been wet all week. I also made it extend forward and under the tail to cover the wiring from the tail light, as I've noticed my tail light doesn't always want to work after I ride in the rain anymore. I noticed a few drops of water on the tail, so I should've made it an inch or so longer, but it definitely helped.

I'm still here but haven't ridden the X1W much this year.
I think I'd like to see if I can't get 100,000 miles out of it like I did with the Useless so come Spring I'll be putting out some Take Pity On Me Parts Wanted ads.
I know what I want to do with it but just need to take care of some other things first. Some fun, some really not fun at all but the body tends to fall apart over the years.

I never saw the attraction for Facebook although I did join to win a set of speakers (didn't) and a shock for my Buell (didn't win that, either).
In all fairness to the owner of that site everyone was taken flat footed by the Russian disinformation campaign even though the intelligence community was given warning that there was an operation underfoot. No one really understood what was happening until it was too late.

100,000 on an M2? That is worth writing about!

I'm in here pretty well every day just seeing whats going on. Winter is almost here in Canada. I have an S1 project that I rode a bit this summer. It will get a bit more work over the winter. I will also work on my S1/S3 drag bike project as well. I raced it a couple of times this summer and had a ton of fun. keep posting guys, I too can't stand facebook.

Still here.Check in several times a day.Getting ready to sell my '00 X-1 Lightning due to medical bills and medical reasons. Will be throwing an ad up here and all the goodies(riding gear, extra "stuff"....alot of it).Just have to demo the garage to find all of the boxed stuff from when we moved here over 2 years ago.Been a long agonizing process due to recovering from the two medical "events back in 2016( believe i told all here about them). In February my main abdominal artery ruptured and i almost bleed to death( ER doc said had i gotten there 15 minutes later, i'd of been a sack of fertilizer.Yeah, cut it REALLY close). Then, while recoupin' at home from THAT lovely incident, got a call from my GI doctor, and he informs me i have 1, celiac disease( no more glutens....bummer).Then he hits me with the "C" word.I have colorectal cancer. So ....i went through 6 weeks of hell with the chemo and radiation( pray none of you out here ever has to go through that.If you already have, we're amongst a gathering of tough ones).Anyway they shrunk the tumor( size of a large softball) and removed it along with 3/4 of my large intestine....yippee.So i have been on a really slow recovery of that episode.Gaining weight has been a major ordeal.First, i have a high metabolism and 2nd, with the loose of 3/4 of my large intestine, trying to gain back my body mass and such is like going up to bat with two strikes against me......i left the hospital weighing around 105 and right now i am hovering at about a buck 20....still not up to strength and the bike fell over once in the driveway( broke the clutch lever....already replaced with a new one)...so after that i reluctantly decided to sell the bike. Its just too heavy for me and i don't want to risk that happening to me again and damage the bike.If the bike was lighter for me, i'd reconsider, but i have to deal with what it is.Puts space and vacuum to shame.Only has under 18k on the odometer.Only issue i had was when the speed sensor quit when we were living up in Washington ST. Other than that, been a good ole bike.Keep it on the trickle charger when not ridden( expecially over the winter) and i occasionally fire it up and when its warm enough, i'll take it out for a putt.LT

I rode out to Ephrata for the last meet of the year on the Sprint GT which seldom fails to draw a crowd of admiring onlookers.

As you can plainly see, they were shoulder deep and the Fire Department had to turn the hose on them and bowl them out of the way just so I could snap a picture.
It's kind of embarrassing but I can't say that I blame them for their enthusiasm for the model. I just really hate wiping stranger's drool off of the seat.

There was ONE nice tube frame Buell there, a 2000 S3 with around 10,000 miles on it. The new owner was pleased as punch with his purchase. I don't blame him, this one is a beauty.

I think before all is said and done I'd like to get another S3, that's the one Buell I sold that I really miss.

That's quite a story Paul, I think I remember reading about it last time you posted. I hope you find another bike that's lighter that you enjoy riding just as much.

Nice looking bike Steve, I've had a couple Triumphs, always had a soft spot for them. I had a Speed Four I bought back in 2003, and 2006 Speed Triple that I traded in for my S1 a few years ago. Both were great bikes. The newer ones haven't really kept my attention much. I feel like Triumph used to be the kind of naked bikes back around the late 90s/early 2000s, but I feel like they lost their edge a while back compared to some of the other bikes out there.
