All the info is long ago been put into archive. I've acquired two S2's within the past year. They join the S1W and S3T in the stable.

Here what I pulled from the archive:

"There is only one list, that is the list that Bart started. It had some limited function, it is the list of spare covers."

Frank, it was NOT a list of covers, it was a list of S2 owners, and also listed whether or not an owner had their cover, or was looking for it.

here is a copy of it in 2007, a year or two before I turned it over to you:

I have a few questions about this;

I got into S2’s (and old Buells in general) and bought 1995 #817 about two years ago. I read through all the threads, and followed the message at the top of the S2 Forum page (which is still there);

“Add your bike to the S2 Owners Registry by contacting Scott Juergens (Velocity). Include your VIN, color of the bike, your Signature Series documentation status, and any other information you may want to record about your S2 Thunderbolt”

So my first question is – I sent in my info, but so what? Where and what good is this registry? Who has it now, how do I see it, and fellow owners?

Second question – as far as I can tell, the first 400 or so units had a VIN starting with “1B9RT” and the last four digits started with 3001. Then the VIN changed to “4MZRT” and the last four digits started with 0001. So it seems you could have an early S2 VIN with 1B9RT_____3020, and a later S2 VIN with “4MZRT____0020”, and both people think they have bike #20? I don’t get it.

That list looks waaaaaaaay out of date.

I do believe that was the list of who had what spare covers. I've still got the 3 listed . . . somewhere.

At least one person on the list had died and many have, years ago, dispatched their Buells.

^^^Court...

That's part of the reason I wanted to revisit the "registry".

I'd be willing to keep an update spreadsheet that can be shared on the board. But it needs to be in a place where S2 owners (new and old) can access the info.

Okay, so I think I have #0027, 96 S2T, Quicksilver, don't have autographed sideplate, so I guess I'm "looking?"

But, my question is the same as Tigermann: how to interpret the VIN.

Lake Bueller, "the list" was maintained as a spreadsheet back in the day, Ulywife also helped me with the project.
The main intent was just to have a list of S2 OWNERS, with just the last 4 of their VIN, and their BadWeb name.
I got too busy riding, and traveling to maintain the list, and Frank begged to take it, and maintain it.
Frank decided to turn it into a secret registry, with full names, addresses, phone numbers, full VIN, etc.
The secrecy is understandable, when you maintain that much personal info on individuals.

The original intent, was just to maintain a simple list of S2 owners we could all access, and maintain...

The information I posted above would be all the information I would be interested in providing for a web board registry. If anyone would ever want to know more, they can message me through the board. Just knowing the bikes are still out there and not scrapped is a great asset of information, and a great starting point if more info is ever needed.

Maybe it is time to do something different. I have kept it updated since the hand off from Frank. I'm in process moving to a new house so have to balance my time. I want to check to see how many changes I have made over the years. It would be interesting to see if some of the members still have there bikes. Stay tuned.

S2T VIN 001 is alive, well and safe at Uke's museum in Kenosha, WI. Well, at least it was on display when I was home for Christmas in 2014.

S2T VIN 001

S2T VIN 001 2

Yes, I did verify that the frame number was '...001', not that I would expect any misrepresentation.

Hahahahaha . . this coming from the young Engineer who designed the tool to imprint the VIN on the cases??

You have an inherent conflict of interest. If it's mis-numbered I know who to blame.

:-)

P.S. - I found some of the "1,000 Buell Made" shirts the other day. Remember the day our "handlers" came from BDC in Milwaukee and had the ceremony to open the new building and celebrate the 1,000th?

Court,
I have #1000, long story, but now that I've retired. I'll start on the restoration. Have almost all the parts. Original owner has the timing cover and won't sell it.
I'd love a shirt to go with the bike.
Thanks,
