Hello All! After riding an 08 1125R for the last six years I decided it was time for a change and scored a REALLY clean 98 S3T from a fellow Badwebber here in AZ. I'm quite happy with the power and handling of this machine and look forward to many good miles ahead. It does have a fork seal that needs replacing so can anyone recommend a good Buell mechanic in the Phoenix AZ area? Thanks and ride safe!!! A great Buell mechanic would be Andre, I believe he is on the west side.
PM me and I can give you his phone number.

With the help of everyone here, any one can become a great Buell mechanic!! I have tackled some jobs I have avoided in the past and paid for many years ago...now I just jump in and go for it

best mechanic for the tube frame era bikes, yourself, the manual, and the people here!!!

the forks are not specific to Buell so any shop should be able to rebuild them (oddly enough this is one of the jobs I have not yet done...). your bike, based on year (1998) will have WP forks, in 99 they went to Showa. Not all parts are currently (last time I checked) available for the WP forks, but they are all readily available for the Showa forks.

last time I needed to rebuild a set of forks I bought a brand new set of Showas from St. Paul HD (has a huge listing on ebay) for about 450.00 and used those in my pre 99 bikes.

just a thought...check out what your local shop will charge to rebuild them then compare against the Showas.... install the Showas, keep riding then "practice" rebuilding your own..and have a set of spares!

when I have some "free" time, not wrapped up knuckle deep in projects, Im going to do just that with the set I have on the shelf...

Thank you for the replies! Ok so I've got my manual, a seal mate tool and some dot 3 brake fluid and I'm going to become one with my forks......well anyway I'm going to try to fix them. You have a great point Jolly and I'm going to get to know my bike a little better. Thanks again

Well I got the seal leak fixed....funny what some good advice and a little effort can accomplish! With the 1125 I had the extended warranty so other than minor maintenance all repairs were done by the shop. That mindset no longer applies and I'm well aware of that now. I checked and the primary chain tensioner has been upgraded also the front exhaust mount has been updated. I'm going to order some isolators from Al and change them out after the riding season ends. I'm glad I made the switch and look forward to working on and riding this bike for good long time!!! Thanks again and RIDE SAFE

Glad you were able to get your fork seal leak sorted out. As for the isolators, are you sure they are bad? It looks like you might have the later isolators in the rear already, so someone may have changed them.

It is extremely rare for the new style isolators to fail. Check them. They're too hard to change just for the heck of it. They're probably fine.
