Wondering If anyone has tried this?
It says won't work with 96 S2, but will with 97 S3. Seems if it fit one it would fit the other, is there a big difference between the 2 bikes as regards the stand?

Thanks

( I don't want to pay Pitbull prices.)

I personally wouldn't buy it or use it on my bike. Looks too cheap. The tubing. and the way its put together there are too many spots for failure. I use either woodcraft or pitbull stands front and rear. Yes they are more expensive but.....if a cheaper stand fails and your bike falls over, how much money will it be to fix???? Think about it. You get what you pay for. I personally use the woodcraft stands. They used to sponsor me when I was roadracing. Great products.

I bought a set of those Asian stands but mine are red.
I use them on a smooth concrete floor and the bike is very secure.
I've never tried them on grass or gravel, so I can't say how well they would work on those uneven surfaces. For me it was money well spent.

Pitbull stand is 180, shipping 60, exchange rate 30%, Canadian tax %13, total cost just north of $350.
Too much IMO.

Just wondering if the front stand would interfere with the bottom of the quarter fairing on a stock S2???

Good eye Jeff. It looks like it would. Even if it didn't when mounted, it would tap it going up.

Before purchasing any stand that lifts an S2 from the tree, be sure your hole will accept a pin!!! Two of mine have a TINY hole that even a pencil will not fit inside.

Just sayin...

K12, good idea, will do.
What do you do if you can't use a stand?

Thanks for sharing that morsel of good info K12pilot! I always find the differences in these early machines interesting. The hole in my lower tree is probably about 1/2" or so and the pin in my stand fits easily. Is the smaller hole just casting flash or is the tree actually cast with a small hole? Can the hole be easily drilled out so an articulated pin stand would work?

There were two different types of trees on the S2s - early bikes had billet triple trees, which have a tiny ole in the bottom. The later cast trees have the larger hole and are compatible with the Pitbull stand pin - the same set up that an S3 uses.

I am assuming that the "tiny" hole difference is related to the two sets of trees, but it maybe just be a coincidence that my billet tree bike has the small hole steering stem, the cast tree bike has the bigger hole that is compatible with the Pitbull stand.

The hole is not in the aluminum part, it is in bottom of the pressed in steering stem - it's steel, you could drill it out, but at the expense or permanently altering a rare part.

You can buy an portal;le electric winch for less than a Bitbull stand and dangle the bike from the rafters, too.

For sure NOT casting flash.

I have both "forged" & both Billet trees (early & late)

no method to the madness...

I've never bought a stand because I was afraid it wouldn't fit. Can any of you tell me which stands definitely will fit an S2?
Thanks.

if your S2 has the cast trees with the large hole, the pit bull stand will definitely lift it.

If you have the small hole then you will need to find an alternative, either the style that lifts from the bottom of the fork legs or dangle it from the rafters
