OK, I have just installed my 3rd drive belt. I am afraid the other too were to tight. Is there a procedure that works better than the one in the manual for tension & alignment? | ||

Take the page in the manual regarding belt tension and adjustment and tear it out. It's wrong and will result in broken belts, destroyed needle bearings and general mayhem. "Scary loose" should be your mantra. | ||

The alignment is tricky to measure, I agree, but dial calipers is what I use. .015 Inch seems like a lot, but compared to scribe marks on the side of the swingarm, it's fairly precise. Still, I try for less difference between sides, like .008 to .005. The tension is just leave it loose, like afraid it will fall off loose. The underneath belt can easily be pushed up to touch the swingarm. If you can see belt teeth when you look at the back of the rear pulley from the side, that's too loose. | ||

+1 Jayvee. I finally gave up and went 'scary loose' like everyone says on here and all is good. When it was too tight I could hear a difference in when coasting. Now it's quieter too. |
