I need to provide proof of productions numbers for my S2T in order to get discounted insurance with a collector plate. (25 years old or 15 years and less than 1500 made.) Not sure if they'd call me on the difference between an S2T and an S2 so I'd like to provide production numbers for both.

Can anyone help me out with a scan of the Signature series document, please? (I already have one for the 1995.)

I thought signature docs were a 95 only item, and the S2T is a 96 only bike.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks Court. It doesn't read quite as I remembered it so I'll need a pic of an S2T timing cover but I'm pretty sure I can find one in the archives. Much obliged.

No problemo . .. . I have plenty of them around and . . . it one of the wildest stories in Buell history . . . a Badwebber actually picked up all the documents related to the Signature Series Program at a yard sale in Minnesota. . . . . ya just never know.

Do the numerals on the plate above mean its a 1995 S2 49 state model and its the 506th machine built out of a total of 1399 that year?

No.

It means it was a 49 state bike with a VIN ending in 506.

If may . . . or may not have been (VIN's are not NECESSARILY in sequence) the 506th produced.

I'm in the socialist north, Chris, so my insurance situation is different from yours. For entertainment's sake, I'll fill you in. First off, driving without insurance anywhere in Canada is probably a $1000 fine. (It was $150 thirty years ago, I know for a fact.)
In some provinces, such as Alberta, the deal is the same as the States: just pick your company. In British Columbia, and a couple of other provinces, basic insurance is through a government agency. Optional insurance (fire and theft, collision, windshield, etc.) can be through private or government insurance. Basic insurance covers damage to other people and their property and damage to you but not your vehicle. Canada's national public health doesn't get billed for medical costs of car accidents, theoretically.
So, that said, my insurance on my car, insured year-round mostly, is about $100/mth. Also, insurance on the Ducati is about $100/mth, so I only insure it for four months in the summer. These vehicles I can drive to work.
Finally, a vehicle in good original condition, either 25 years old or 15 years old and limited production or 15 years old and made by a manufacturer who has been out of business for 5 years, can get "collector plates" and its insurance, which is for (ANY) pleasure use. Just can't use it to get to work or school. And that costs $15/mth.
Good deal, eh? I think that Buells in British Columbia should become very popular in the next year or so.

Ah. And Court got me on a technicality. Which I think is related to the matter of the two different starting sequences of VINs. (4MZRT and 1BR, or whatever.)

I should get farm insurance discount...

I joke I've got a barn yard of animals:

2 Hogs (HD)
5 flying horses (Buell Pegasus)
2 Geese (Moto Guzzi)
1 Dog (Big Dog)

and three trumpets to call them all to dinner (three Triumphs)

Back at it again. I need a pic of an S2T timing plate to go with the the scan of the letter that Court provided above. Can anyone help me out. I applied for the collector plate on the basis of being out of business for 5 years, rather than limited production numbers. They replied to say that Harley still holds the trademark and Harley is still producing vehicles. So I need to re-apply on the basis of less than 1500 made that model year. I think a scan of the Signature Series plate is the best, quickest proof of the matter.

We can buy it in one month intervals, at about $100 month for basic coverage. About the same as my car. 2 million liability, I think. (Americans, take note: our government health care doesn't include car accidents. So the high price of the insurance includes hospital bills for all involved.)
In Alberta, they pay less than what I'd pay for a full year but they don't have the option of less than a year, so their prices reflect the fact that the bike is parked half the year. Anyway, I generally will choose to insure about mid-May and go til mid-October, which will be about $500, with accident free discount. My collector bikes are about $20/month, but, as noted above, can't be used to and from work. I just get full year insurance for one or two of them, just in case the weather's nice in winter one day.

Better than here by far. Estimates for my S2 are running about 900+ and I have a clean record and am 60 yrs old.
No monthly insurance, and if you want to cancel after anytime over about 30 days they charge you close to 50%.
Canceling for the winter ( half the year basically) will save you less than 100.
Far as I can tell there is only one place offering collector ins. and the bike has to be over 30 years old. That's all for min. coverage as well.

I just love insurance companies.

I know it's apples and oranges, but I pay $400/yr for full coverage on both my S2 and Uly.

But is it apples and oranges? Does that $120 a year, or $400, include hospital bills for you and others, lost wages, damage to others' property, etc? Is yours a no-fault jurisdiction?
Its all based on stats plus profit. I can't believe you guys are that much better drivers. Nor that Canadian insurance companies can be that uncompetitive. So where's the difference? (As this morphs into an insurance thread.)
I'm at a disadvantage in British Columbia in that its a government monopoly (which isn't a bad thing in itself and please don't start on that hijack!) but that the government has determined that there shalt be no age discrimination so if you are ten years accident free, you pay the same whether you're 26 or 56, in spite of actuarial tables. Whereas in Alberta the rate is cut in half at 25 and again in half if you're married.
Other info, IIRC, there is a maximum payable of $250,000 for pain and suffering. Whiplash will get you about 10g. Lose an eye if you're a sales clerk (for instance) and you'll get wages covered til you're back to work. But lose an eye if you're a pilot for Air Canada and you'll get more than most people's $2 million coverage will handle, due to the wage loss.
And finally, the one whose insurance pays is the one who caused the accident, although they will frequently argue that both are partially at fault so premiums go up for both.
