Hoping this ignition will work on an x1? Anyone have one? |

You're better off with a Dyna or Ultima ignition (the latter ignition is made by Dyna) and a new, single fire coil. Especially if you're running a 1250 kit and planning on >/= 10:1 CR. That way you have much more control over the spark rather than between a few preselected curves. |

Look up the number of a Twin Sports module (32399-84A?) from the Sportster cafe bike - anyone who was a shop tech during the Twin Sports era got a bulletin on how to set an early Evo XL up for the race track. Or you could get an M2 module, like I did, if you want to use a vacuum sensor for low-speed drivability. |

Was asking because I picked one up off of eBay and hoping the plugs were the same and it was compatible with the X1 engine. |

Plugs on any non-EFI motor will be different from anything with fuel injection. The only way to use your existing plugs is to get the proper module for your bike. This will make many wires such as the air cleaner sensor, injector power leads, and coil grounds have current in them and you must cap them off and get a dual-fire coil. It will also give you engine trouble codes and keep your red dash light lit all the time unless you disable it. I changed my tachometer out for one without the red light. However, the wire colors are easy to read and the pins easy to move into a new plug. I chose to go with lap soldered wire-to-wire connections under shrink wrap and have been happy with the performance for many years. |
