We used one piece in each megaphone about 8x8" about 3/8" thick, curled it up, stuck it in, used a screw driver to push it out to the walls of the pipes, and then rolled and inserted similarly sized steel mesh and reached the mesh to the end of each reverse cone. It's still crazy loud but it's about half as loud as before. Had we used longer/thicker pieces, it would have been much quieter.

Welded in frame brace
Steering damper with mounting nut welded onto frame
De-arched XBR mirrors
Remade the baffles in my custom pipes
Accel 8.8mm wires (yellow, no pics yet)

Stuff on the way:

Polished Mikuni HSR 42
Denso Iridium cold range plugs
Ducati 999 radial master cylinder with ASV lever and triangular reservoir : D

Oh btw, the pipes were stuffed with rock wool again between the baffles and the walls of the megaphones. The baffles are 2" in and 2.5" out so still kind of like a megaphone effect. They are packed pretty tight so the pipes are still pretty loud but not nearly as bad as without. I know the pictures about don't show it installed but I'll take some soon and post them. And the Mikuni is actually sitting in my bedroom now but I'm waiting on the A/C adapter to get here before I install it.

So last weekend I took the bike on an 800 mile round trip to NRHS in Longmont, CO, with stops in Fountain on the way and Hasty on the way back. I had my polished Mikuni installed and the bike dyno tuned- 84HP 80 FT/LBS was the result. Not bad for a bike with mild mods. Unfortunately one of my baffles broke in my custom mufflers on the way home (actually it started breaking down on the dyno, blowing packing out all over the shop floor), so I'm still trying to decide how I want to fix it. I'd have to cut the reverse cone off again to rebuild the baffle; maybe I'll cut them both off and redo them both. The other idea was to cut the good megaphone off and just run it with a bit of straight pipe to extend it back some, which would probably help with the reversion issue, though it wouldn't look or sound quite as cool.

Anyway, 800 miles racks up a lot of bug guts, so I had to clean it to get it back to its prior glory : D. I did it the easiest way I knew- I filled a spray bottle with Dawn and water, sprayed it all down, scrubbed and rinsed, then waxed : ).

THIS weekend, I decided to tackle my brakes and dash wiring. I noticed a few days ago that my rear brake reservoir hose was abraded and leaking, so I replaced it with hose from O'Reilly and worm clamps in place if the terrible stock clamps. I also turned the P clamp around to try and avoid the issue from happening again. My front brake worked fine, but I wanted to install my Ducati 999 Brembo radial master cylinder. The cap was originally anodized bright blue, which doesn't match at all. Since I couldn't find any gloss black in my paint stash, I decided the next best option for now is the paint I picked up to touch up the frame and wheels, since it's an extremely close match. Next I wanted to wire in my Voltmeter, 12v acc plug, and gauge lights, since I hadn't touched the gauges since I made the dash, and none of them previously were hooked up (Voltmeter is still the only gauge hooked up; I need to wait until my next oil change before I hook up the oil gauges, and I won't be installing the fuel gauge sending unit for a while. I got part of that done yesterday before I ran out of time and had to go to WT to help me wife with her metal Iris sculpture. You can see the 999 m/c with ASV lever in the pic below.

Unfortunately, I didn't take a completed picture, but the wiring and brakes are done, so I will add a picture of the illuminated dash in a few days. : )

Thanks! That's the best mod I've done so far LOL. It's just a plastic cup holder from O'Reilly with a bungee cord wrapped around it! Works great on smaller cups. Holds 44 oz cups fine but they can move around a bit when full so occasionally I'll have to push them up, but not often. Saves me a lot of headache haha.

I changed my clutch perch today. ZX6R perch with ASV lever matching my brake lever. This allowed be to ditch the Buell one piece design and also ditch the mirror mount since I have fairing-mounted mirrors.



My next project is making new handlebars for my WesTek billet clamps. The setup one of the POs made is tweaked upward on the clutch side, but it's aluminum so I don't have the tools to heat or weld it. The new bars will be made out of 1" buckhorns cut down and 7/8" OD steel bar stock, and they will be ~1" taller.



If you missed it, here's the brake side. Brembo 19mm radial M/C and reservoir from a Duc 999, with an ASV lever. Lever looks multicolored in the photo but it's black.

Looks like my bike will officially be a "T" again : ). As of earlier this week, I bought a full set of narrow bags and fairing lowers for it, just waiting on them to get here.

Picked it up on eBay, mislisted as a stock shifter, for $60! It needed a bit of elbow grease and I had to straighten the main arm a little bit, but all in all I'm very satisfied : ).

Looks like I was wrong about the bags and lowers; they came in and earlier than expected at that! Big thanks to David for helping me facilitate the purchase!



As you can see, one of the lids is slightly damaged and one of the inners has a hole (repairable though). I actually have another pair of inners so I used the good ones.


Didn't have time to install the lowers, but the bags went on with no issues.



And my muffler packing blew out, so it's removed and pending repacking.



Now I just have to decide what color to paint the bike : D.

I haven't updated this thread in a while but I've made quite a bit of progress : ). I did get my lowers mounted, and I trimmed them a little on the insides for better A/C breathing on the right and steering damper clearance on the left. I sold off the Banke shifter. I like the boomerang setup more after using the Banke tbh. The extra leverage makes shifting a lot easier. I will eventually make a new shift shaft and shifting arm out of aluminum to shed weight. I bought a set of wide lids (Thanks K12pilot!!!) and I polished and rebuilt my PM caliper (thanks Lynyrd for the loaner!). That reminds me I need to finish cleaning the Nissin and send it back. I finally decided on a color so last weekend I started sanding, priming, and painting my bodywork. I only got a base coat of paint on the lowers and fender before the weather turned and I had to put them back on. It's supposed to be really nice this weekend, so I'm gonna see if I can finish painting the parts then. The color I chose is Inferno Red Metallic (a Chrysler color) similar to Candy Apple Red. I also rebuilt my mufflers with new baffles made from 1.5" perforated tubing and stainless steel mesh safety wired around them. The sound is much nicer and more mellow than before, which is much more desirable for my commuting.

The color is inferno red metallic, hard to describe and nearly impossible to photograph. The red is in between the photos shown, though it changes with the amount of light as you can see.
