The EBR engine is built in East Troy and is not a rotax, there are changes to the air box, injectors, and heads that are unique to the EBR,

I have an 1125 in the garage next to the X1..... I am at a loss as to what you do with 185 hp on the street, the '25 goes from speed limit to jail in about 2.6 sec.....

if your investing for the future, on his past history, I would sudjest, you would be better off buying a Yamaha.

That's really poor investment advise. Ask Hero.

Alfau - I think if you took all the members on this site who bought a Buell to increase their monetary wealth and put them in a room, you probably wouldn't have very many people to talk to...if you had any company at all.

Personally, I bought my Buells as much for the undying dedication, determination, love and passion Erik had in conceiving, designing and building them...as I do in owning, riding, admiring and preserving the ones I am lucky enough to have in my garage.

The story and history behind these bikes is like no other, and the personal attention awarded to so many Buell owners by people at Buell (all the way up to Erik himself!) is unequalled. I can think of no other brand that treats their customers this way.

If we were buying them as investments we wouldn't spend so much time & money modifying them to make them our own. Everybody knows when you sell a motorcycle you rarely get back what you put in it.

We buy them because we love them. For our own reasons. It's as simple as that. IMO...

Incredibly poor investment advice. Let's see, what would accrue more money in the future, a low production bike(in comparison) to a bike company that spits out 100,000 a year?

Really? Is that why my low production number S2 is worth incredible amounts of money?

Just buy the bike you like and enjoy today, today, because you will all be long dead before you can retire by selling your low production bike of any brand.

Depreciating assets are poor investments.

If you buy a motorcycle "as an investment" you need to return to school.

Shame. You've chosen poorly.

http://www.onlinecollegecourses.com/2012/01/24/15- famous-thinkers-who-couldnt-spell/

I teach in a school that is plum full of geniuses. . . .more Nobel Peace Price winners than any school in the world. . . . spelling and intellect are related as are golf balls and eggs.

I am more concerned about my young students who can't think than I am folks who can't spell.

Out of curiosity . . . . and then we'll get back to the topic . . who DO you take investment advise from? Ever had one of them make more than $1B in a day?

Curious.

Frankly, it was a stupid thing to say, added nothing to the conversation and made you appear, regardless of if you are or not, small, petty and demeaning.

Essmjay, every Buell is a low number when compared to Japanese bikes. S2's were made in '95 and '96, they are still in the depreciation stage. I've had a 1970 Dodge Challenger with a 383 4 barrel which I bought in 1980 for $800. In 1997 someone offered me 6000. Ten years later someone offered me 10,000 for it. Last year someone offered 20k. Plus the car is not even close to being restored. Point being, anything that is cool, that people like, will appreciate eventually. Tube frame Buells will appreciate, especially as you see more idiots cut them up, they get even more rare.

But that said, I did not buy the bike as an investment at all. Fortunately Harley turned it into one for me.

"Fortunately Harley turned it into one for me."

How you reckon?
Id figure it would be more Erik Buell than Harley that will make the unmolested ones worth more in the long run.

Back to the topic at hand - you can go to quickboard and see a number of threads on the release of the new RX. Including stills from a slideshow that shows the power and torque "curves" - a torque curve that looks like it was drawn with a straight-edge.

185hp is correct.

Rotax is incorrect.

Check the other threads for some very good, first-hand, information from the reveal at AIMExpo in Orlando.

so... in 2037 when my S2 is 42 years old it will be worth what it was new plus the rate of inflation... unfortunately I'll be 83, if not already dead. I think a ride tomorrow is in order.

That is patently inaccurate as well as making you appear small, petty and demeaning.

Anyone who actually knows Court knows well the pure joy he has for sharing the fantastic real life stories of Buell motorcycles and the people behind them. Some tales simply don't belong plastered on a web site with a wide open public domain.

You owe the man an apology.

When I buy another bike it'll be used with low miles. Great thing about sportbikes is how quickly they depreciate as used bikes.

The 1125's and new EBR aren't on my radar, but I am rooting for them both as a race team and manufacturer.

I recently picked up another bike, a 2003 R1150RT, for $3200. And it cost a lot more than that new. I don't think I will ever buy a new bike, they all just depreciate too fast.

Any body who thinks motorcycles are not good investments should take a look at Jay Leno's collection, most of which he bought new over the past 20-25 years. The problem is most of those bikes were low production and cost as much as an expensive sports car did when he bought them. No offense but I don't think any of us is willing to pay that much for a bike.
