Howdy guys! Just a quick question.. While I was cleaning the bike earlier, I noticed a little hole beginning to form in my v&h can, which got me thinking.. I want to upgrade to a D&D, but do they even make cans compatible with a '98? I know their site says 99- 2007 Or something like that.. Am I out of luck? And if I am.. What would be the next best alternative ? Obviously if I want a D&D, I want it to burst my ear drums and keep my power where it is! :P Thanks ahead of time fellas, and happy memorial day!

looks like you are out of luck, unless you have a 2 1/2" collector. And that's too bad, they will have to pry my D&D out of my cold dead hands

A muffler shop can set you up with a 2 to 2.5 inch adapter easily enough.

You will need the updated front mount bracket (y-bracket) to mount the D&D. I do not know if you would have enough space to put in a 2 to 2 1/2 adapter.

The Full D&D pipe and can kit requires the Y hanger, I'm not sure about the slip on version. The mid pipe on the full system will only mount to the Y bracket. Slip on versions do not have that mid pipe.

The 90 degree elbow that comes with the slip on will have to be cut, and the adapter welded in place. It will fit. And since all the D&D pipe parts (except the headers) are painted stove black, touching up the modified elbow is a simple affair.

Good to hear! I can handle the welding issue easy enough.. Thinking about just buying the can, since I can't afford the entire pipe setup...

Yes the slip-on requires the Y-mount.
Good luck & keep us posted with your progress....

"Yes the slip-on requires the Y-mount."

And even if it didn't, the Y hanger is really the way to go.
