That is really pretty but I feel it should have something to protect the seals from salty puddles and sand. I'm sure it works as great as it looks too. Perhaps my concerns are unfounded. Someone needs to put 40,000 miles on one as a test. | ||

Why can't a shock "sock" be made to protect the internals? Something that goes on the outside of the shock that expands and contacts with the shock. I see them a lot on off road applications. | ||

Valid concerns guys but all I can tell you is that TM works with only top notch vendors that have years and years of experience and know way more than probably any of us do about these products. Perhaps Easyrider can shed some light on the development of this shock to address your concerns? Now we just need Beardo to get busy putting those 40,000 miles on that S1!  | ||

Dirt bikers used to sell a Shock Sock just like you describe. For street you can probably get away with just shielding where the shaft goes into the seal/body. I can't even see it in the picture above. Maybe has to be mounted to see it? That's a real nice one though. I like the shaved long bolts holding it together. A S B used to sell titanium bolts for that, no more. |
