Id like to hear your opinions on a clean 14000 mile 99 S3T, price wise & dependability. I had an 07 XB12SS but hated the way the injection ran. Dont know if they are all that cold blooded or not. Presently have a 95 S2 but Its a little tough on my old back

If I was to pick up another S3, I would find an '01 or '02. The 99's were ok, but they improved over the years. I sold my '99 S3 and felt good about it. The '02 I bought for my wife is definitely a better bike, maybe just because it is three years younger, it just seems to be more sorted out. I put a 1250 top end on it so it does have more power, but it seems to deliver that power more smoothly. If I was to buy a '99 with that mileage on it, I wouldn't pay more than 3g's. Of course, if I was selling it I would be happy to get $3500.

What Id like to know is if the early ones were as cold blooded as my 07 or if there was something wrong with it? It was nearly unridable until it had gone over 5 miles. It was unrideble for short runs in the city. Harley said they could TRY to fix it at $100 an hour but no gaurantees. Youre close on the asking price

ALL tubers, carb'ed or FI, are cold blooded. Just take it easy for the first couple of miles, nothing over 70.

+1000 on proper jetting.

My S1W has been in hibernation since October. Went to it on Saturday because it was in the 60s for the first time. Pulled the choke, three rolls of the throttle, key on, start button...fired right up and settled into an idle.

Warming up is key, mainly to prevent the dreaded rockerbox leaks...but my tubers don't sneeze at me at all.

If the OP's 07 was that snarky...something was going on with that particular bike. My 06 Uly warms up while I gear up and that's it. No coughs, no stutters (except when ambient temps are below 35 when I shouldn't be riding anyway...).

My '99 always ran great cold. My biggest complaint is that it seemed to "fight" going over 100. Others didn't seem to have that problem so I may have had a minor sensor issue.

Just a thought.

Ask the seller to toss in some new spark plugs and give it a go. Sometimes they get fowled up with limited use.

I have a 2002 s3t and its cold blooded, I just let it warm up while I get my gear gathered, same with my s1W and my x1, so Ive got tubers that are carbed and EFI and years from 98, 99, and 2002 and I just give em time to warm up and they run great!

My '99 had a bad cam position sensor, which worked at high speeds but was cold-blooded. No issues since I put a sportster cps in it.
