Does anyone have the page out of the service manual they can copy and post, that shows the mounting of a stock muffler on a 97 Buell M2. Bolts, washers, nuts, and any special brackets needed? thanks, REX

97 should be the same, except for the lack of updated front hangar...

Interesting.....I don't ever remember having a strap like that , that went around the rear of the muffler....Hummm. I think mine has some hard mounting brackets welded onto it. will go out tomorrow and look. Thanks, REX

The early cans may have tabs instead of straps, yes. Now that you mention it, my S2 muffler has tabs (the only "early" factory muffler I've had hands on...). AFAIK, they mount to the engine with the same Z bracket.

+1 to tabs not straps on my 97 m2. Btw, I just ordered the updated hanger in pieces and not together in a kit for about $80

The strap was an update, and then the use of the strap was updated by adding the 'extra' lock nuts behind the nut on the strap. "Belt and suspenders" I guess.

cool. I am supposing that the rear mount, has some sort of rubber mounting, to isolate the vibration? or hard bolted?

That's correct Rex (at least for my Y2K M2). The upper Z bracket bolts pass through large round rubber isolators mounted in the swing arm mounting block.

Thanks. REX

I am thinking of mounting the stock muffler back on the bike.

In fact it is bolted on now, but not with the Z bracket. I need to do that.

I had a vance and hines on the bike most of its life, but it is a little too loud. The stock is okay, but a little too quiet. I had a supertrapp on there, but it did not have the sound of the vance and hines.

I have the same rings as the super trap on my S2, which sounds great. On the M2, it does not have the same quality. Back to the vance and hines, with some new packing...we will see. thanks for your help. REX
