I'm swapping my 97 M2 stock exhaust with a Supertrapp (thanks to the badweb wanted section- wahoo).

Going to use 1 new PN 17048-98 exhaust gasket as per LaFayette. Stopping by HD for that today.

Muffler seller (Cheez2158) says I need to repack it. Supertrapp says I need: P/N 400-1717 = Repack kit for SuperTrapp M2 Cyclone muffler $58.80

Then I want to swap out the front stock hanger to the improved Y version as per everyone and their mother but I can only find one for $140. Is it possible to find these cheaper?

Trying to avoid messing with the header bolts after reading all the broken bolt and cracked header problems.

Carb has 195 main, 45 low.

Anyone see anything wrong with this plan?

The muffler I got is a Supertrapp universal megaphone, 2" inlet, 4" disc/caps, 18" I think, currently has an open cap and 5 discs, no packing, and 1 rear hanger. The front elbow and hanger that was used with this muffler on an M2 is still in the mail, looks custom fabricated and according to the seller is torn. It was used with the old factory front hanger which may be the reason for the elbow tear, or maybe the elbow is the wrong angle, or maybe 1 hanger in the rear is to blame. Any guesses?

The plan was to get the bad elbow, duplicate it at a shop, get the updated front hanger and get a end cap for the supertrapp- btw check out this end cap: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LA-Choppers-Exhaust-End-Ca p-for-4-Diameter-SuperTrapp-External-Disc-Mufflers -/310568755869?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&ha sh=item484f57229d&vxp=mtr

If I cap the end and repack it, are the 5 discs I have a good starting point or is 5 too few?

My goal is more noise w/o loosing too much low end but I don't want to be riding with ear plugs and turning heads. BTW I'm also planning on swapping the factory air box with an S&S Stealth air cleaner too. After I install both I'm going to tune my carb. Suggestions for this? Do it myself? Find someone else? How much should tuning cost?

As I recall the suggested minimum discs was 7 or 8. Not sure what happens if fewer are used. Removing discs takes away more power than noise level. Might need to go up one size of slow jet, if running good on stock muffler.
