I have bought a brand new set of PM wheels from 2001. They have the new stock bearings. My question is should I replace the bearings now or should I trust the stock ones? I know there have been many posts on here about the stock bearings failing, so I wondered if it was just a problem w/the belt tension or if they are just bad bearings in the first place. If I should replace them before mounting them, where can I get good ones that I won't have to worry about spinning? Thanx! | ||

I don't think there has been a bearing issue, but the belt adjustment that has caused bearings to spin in the hub. | ||

ALL my factory wheel bearings were shot within 10-15k miles. Cheap Chinese All Balls bearings have lasted twice as long. Buell has never had a good rep with OEM wheel bearings. | ||

When you buy a new bearing, "PUT MORE GREASE IN IT" !!! | ||

If I use the stockers, I assume it would help to clean and grease them prior to mounting the wheels on my bike. Any special considerations on prepping them, whether stock or replacements? | ||

I've had to have my front wheel bearings replaced, but not the rear. Loose belts save bearings. There's a slogan in there somewhere.  | ||

consider changing them before assembling the wheels to put them in to service. get em from American Sport Bike, a propane tourch and a little heat gets em right out of nekkid wheels Rick_A is dead on the OE bearings are JUNK | ||

Still running my OEM Wheel Bearings because "i" clean and repack them !!! Have 111,819.6 miles as of the last ride !!! | ||

I put 30000 on the rear. about the same on the front. Using VXB 6205 2rs |
