Okay well On my 99 M2 I have a few noises I can't figure out what they are: 1.) Ticking when driving, just a tic tic tic tic that seems to change with how I'm driving. Sounds liek coming from the front of the motor or the front end somewhere 2.) metal rubbing sound. When the bike is off and I'm Rollin it around my garage there is a faint metal on metal rubbing sound that seems to becoming from the front of the bike, brakes and rotor are fairly new, could that make the sound or possible wheel bearings? Also, anyone know why my turn signal light on the dash would randomly stop working? I put a new led tail light/signals/flasher and everything worked great. A few days later I noticed the light on the dash is not flashing anymore Thanks, Spencer | ||

Check your front wheel bearings and your front motor mount ... Then get back to us ... | ||

If th turn signals come on but no indicator light, it's the bulb, if the turn signals do not come on at all, it's the relay. The metal grinding sound might be the front brake, ticking could be a lifter. It could also be the motor mount and the bearing, just trying to diversify. | ||

If you have your belt off for some other reason (i.e. changing the rear tire), put it in neutral and spin the front sprocket by hand. See if it is grindy or "catchy". | ||

Well the turn signal light works fine now, Go figure. What should I be checking for at the motor mount? I didn't notice the ticking noise when sittin still and hitting the throttle. I'll order some exhaust gaskets I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to change them anyways, my bike has 9500 miles on it. The ticking clicking sound sounds like it might be coming more from under the bike or in the middle after rising again but who knows Thanks, Apencer | ||

You should check the motor mount to ensure that it is not cracked or loose. If you have the old style rubber isolator it may have failed. Does the metal grinding sound change when you lightly apply the brake while rolling? It could be the clip that holds your brake pads in place. | ||

I will have to check and see on the brakes, my front mount looks good and is nice and tight. I had the Harley dealership inspect my idolaters when they did the shock recall last month and they said they looked fine but who knows Does the belt typically make any noise like a low muffled sound? The belt should be so scary loose that you can push down on the center and touch the belt to the swing arm. The brake component that might be rubbing is the clip/spring above the pads; look for fresh scratches on the edge of the rotor. Idolaters, I like that.  |
