found this the other day....glad I noticed it before riding it again. This bolt came out with no problems, the other bolt was already loose....VERY lucky neither broke..

Guess it's time to wait patiently for the money to fix it...hope like hell I get a christmas bonus now. Damn and at the time of year when I need Millie to help keep my sanity.

I plan to pick up a new billet mount and all the updated isolator related items from Al

I didn't think that many of the mounts have failed, or I haven't seen postings about it anyway. I guess that is better that broke then damaged something else.

Welcome to the club. Well, mine didn't break, but I've gone through 2 iso and 2 broken left side bolts and my mount is bent.

I already have everything but the new billet mount from Al... I'm thinking I'll be ordering one shortly rather than using a stock one again.

There is enough stress on this front motor mount as it is ...

Improper installation causes them to break prematurely ...

If you want my IMHO FRONT MOTOR MOUNT INSTALLATION Class 101, just PM me for a copy ...

Installation shouldn't be a big deal though, aren't the manual instructions correct on this one? Or perhaps you have a more fail safe, proven, or improved method?

The things are cast and sometimes porous, I tried to polish several of them but they had bubbles in them and I couldn't ever get a finish I was satisfied with. Seems like QC on the castings was maybe a problem?

Nein:

replace the cast part with billet
new bolts, and have the mounting bosses
remachined so that they are flat and in
the same plane, I assume that the threaded holes are ok...

install and re-torque to latest factory spec.
per the proper procedure you will have no further issues

well, I got all the new parts together (including a mount graciously donated by a fellow badwebber - sadly though for it to not work for my bike - got another x1 mount from the bay) and I put the back end up on the stand and slowly jacked the front end up and the "loose" bolt fell out......with the other half still in the head :-( oh well....me and bolt extractors don't get along so I've got a buddy who's gonna help get that sucker out.

Man I miss my bike..
