I'll be there.

Kids moved to an acre in Flintridge right off Foothill.

Must be nice to have a lotto winner in the family!

Flintridge is kinda like Beverly Hills, but with more room and direct access to Angeles Crest Highway. Less movie producers, too, which is a plus in anyone's book.

I lived on the other side of Foothill for a while - La Canada Flintridge's equivalent of "the wrong side of the tracks".

Hey . . have I got the deal or what?

A place to retire where I can play with the kids, grandkids, you and I can drink coffee, eat pie and ride the mountains.

You wanna complain? . . think carefully first.

: )

I may not be all that bright, but I know a smokin' deal when I see it.

What's that aroma... Roses?.

Be sure to get your pie orders in a couple days in advance.

sorry for the hijack guys.

While we were at Pro Italia, the sales guy had Penny sitting on a MultiStrada (izat right?)and she liked it. I'm thinking it's too tall for her, so maybe I can stay off the hook for this, for now. The likelihood of their taking a 1970 FLH in on trade is impossibly slim, I'd say.

The likelihood of them taking it is greater than the likelihood of you parting with it.

I'm due a trip your way ....

OK, time to bump this sucker before the whole thing sinks into the archive.

From the beginning:

Things did not go well for me the night before and I just made it before the 10:00 AM cutoff. Of course, that meant I was out in the sun while everybody else got shaded parking. It was good company with a whole row of very nice Buells.

After his judging duties elsewhere, Erik made his way down to sprinkle holy-ink and blessings upon his creations.

He wasn't quite sure if he wanted to sign the Westwind but, I offered up the bodywork under the seat. He was ok with that.

Thanks to Sparky for this shot:

At 1:00 PM, they started the awards ceremony. They were bringing up the top three finishers in each category for their turn on the stage. I wanted no part of pushing the Westwind up those ramps. That's Micromachine in the black shirt and pants. He said he didn't need the ramps and would just lift his bike onto the stage. I believed him.

After signing some bikes, Erik was doing an interview that was broadcast over the PA system at the show...

...and it was interrupted by somebody starting up a VERY loud bike.

Loud enough that Chuck turned his back on 'the man' giving his sermon just long enough to contemplate unloading some whoop-ass on the offender.

The offender: an immaculate Ducati 450 with a straight-pipe.

Duck, duck, duck, duck...

GOOSE!

If I remember correctly, this MV Agusta custom came from Yoshi's Garage in Los Angeles.

Heh, heh, we ain't done yet.

It was a place you could see a beautifully restored bevel drive Duc...

And a pair of Mike Hailwood Replicas at the same time (for the uninitiated, these were the bikes that Ducati sold only on their internet website and were sold out in two hours).

If you want to upstage a Bimota, you're going to need to bring some exotic hardware.

Uhhh...OK, I guess a two-smoke Aprilia 125 with a California license plate could do that (man that thing sounded cool).

There were plenty of squids, acting like juvenille-freakin'-delinquents.

It was the kind of day where you could walk by something like this and say, "oh, just ANOTHER MV Agusta F4."

There was also a contingent of electric bikes. I've gotta' admit, this is the first one I've seen where the hardware was actually interesting to look at.

So, that was the highlights of the actual show. There were a LOT more bikes entered and I didn't take the time to shoot them all.

Oh, wait...did I forget the parking area?

Here are a few of the tasty bits that were just ridden to the event and not entered:

Just another bevel-drive:

Damn, ANOTHER stinkin' bevel-drive Super Sport. Wait! What's that behind it?

A Moto Morini 3-1/2. Gawd, I love this bike! Sweet little v-twin and a gorgeous little chassis.

A Paso Limited Edition (1 of 50). Man, I am so close to pulling the trigger on one of these right now. Seeing this one and realizing the white paint is metallic didn't help matters.

And finally: a Moto Guzzi Ambassador police bike, complete with mechanical siren.

Alright, that's most of what I've got from the show. Others have to have some good pics. Post 'em up.

Micromachine took second and first went to a spotless Storz XR1200. The focus of the show was specifically NOT museum pieces. They were supposed to be actual 'riders'. I suspect the Westwind only placed because it was different than the others (averaging 200 miles a year, it sure ain't a 'rider').

If they were looking for museum pieces Greg would have won hands down, the only reason I did well is because I brought a cafe style bike.
Amazing show no matter what kind of bikes your into!

And it was hot that day! I wasn't even tryin to push my bike onstage much less lift it! Lol

By next year I hope to have the S1W ready to show, She has a motor with only 9,000 miles and feels incredibly strong. The only thing is the guy lived right on the coast and the salt air has some of the nuts and bolts showing light rust. I'm going to tear the whole thing down, repaint and replace a load of things. Hope to have her looking as good as new. It was great to see you guys there, I hope to have a better chance next year, LOL Take care and ride smart, Chuck Horton.

I feel so honored to have two pix of my bike considered on Pro Italia's website.

Micro - I'll betcha they picked your bike because it was the meanest/most modified/radical Buell present, hands down. Congrats!

Thanks Sparky!

Hey Chuck,. Most of the nuts and bolts are stainless and can be brought to a nice shine with some brasso & elbow grease. I live on the coast in San Pedro and the guy I bought my s1 from did too, you should have seen what I started with!

Btw, I work on the docks and my s1 is my daily, so My bike does spend it fair share of time in the ocean mist!
