Preybird1:

Know how you feel about the dropping exhaust valves ...

My 2000 BLAST dropped its exhaust valve and the reason was a bad run on exhaust valves ...

We are not the only ones that dropped exhaust valves ...

I was shocked that the cost of the black Dyna filter at my local HD dealer was only 7 and change a couple weeks ago. I seem to remember shelling out 12 bux the time before.

I also run the Dyna filter on my bike.

HD Part#

63812-90 Black
63813-90 Chrome

Most any Hi-Flow filter will work.

I guess anybody who spends over $10 grand on a bike they might not be able to sell for $2500 doesn't need to worry about saving a couple bucks on an oil filter. I'm glad I'm not the only one!! Haven't even started engine work yet. I have the Dyna filter, and have a black anodized fin thing around it, and have heard of the safety wire thing, never did it. Might try on the next change, JFTHOI.

I seem to remember reading that the Dyna filter has a finer 5 micron mesh which can result in higher oil pressures and the operation of the pressure relief valve on an XL engine allowing oil to bypass the filter...

Could be wrong (and it wouldn't be the first time)...
