Off to the salt flats with this one!

http://cookeville.craigslist.org/mcy/2295591159.ht ml

Call me a skeptic, but I thought my old S3 would hit redline at around 135 in top gear. Not that I'd know from experience or anything.

"This Buell, Powerd by Harley Davison's 883 VTwin with a 1200 conversion kit AND Bored out to 1340cc !!! Want to go 180mph? This bike will probubly do it. Hang on to This; 1997 BUELL THUNDERBOLT ST2 Excellent Condition, asking $3500 or Best Offer!"

Wouldn't touch the thing with a 10' pole, after this guy has had his way with what was once a fine machine.

883 ?1?? With a 1200 Conversion Kit ?!??

1997 S2T ?!??

Making a two-wheeled grenade with a pulled pin with a 1340 bore? How well do you think he handled that work?

Oh, Brother.

Think the 180mph probably comes up when the bike is being shipped in the cargo hold of a plane. . as it's takin' off.

And Fahren, if you look closely I think you'll see its an 883 motor with a Blast motor mig/tig welded underneath that gets ya roughly 1340 or there abouts. . . Looks like his problem is as Ebutch says, a smoking problem - "proBUBLY" Too much Bubbling !!

Hah, I didn't even notice the peace sign. I was too distracted by the 883cc Sportster engine with the 1200cc kit bored out to 1340cc.

I believe you guys may be mistaken about the peace sign.

The background is obviously a scene of bucolic bliss, (if a tad cluttered). Ergo, the shadowy figures are most likely a rabbit accompanied by a rabbit wrangler (or farmer as we'd be call it in our country - New Zealand.)

If, on the other hand, it IS a peace sign, it's quite a shame that the U.S. is involved in wars in what?? - 3 or 4 countries now?? (when do we start calling it WW3 I wonder??) and people are made to feel somehow unpatriotic pointing this out needing to hide their protest in silhouette, in the shadows . . . . But I'm going with the rabbit farmer accompanied by a stock unit explanation.

Yeah, but I think the farmer's shadow shows he's wearing a doo-rag.

Doesn't look as if his bunny wants to ride bitch any more.

The US is not at war. It's a "kinetic military action". Don't you watch the news?

Nat - "You know, I bet that tool just took the picture of someone else's bike."
That is seriously among the top 15 of the silliest things I've ever read on this forum.

Hootowl . . "don't you watch the news?" . . .I actually like to stay informed and so no I don't watch the "news" on TV.
"Kinetic military action" what pray tell does that mean exactly . . thats gotta have come from some focus group so it's probably meaningless or at best an obfuscation of "no this isn't an invasion it's a no Fly zone . . .'cept for the cruise missiles . .they are allowed to "fly" and besides NATO's in charge, even though the North Atlantic is nowhere near the top of Africa.

Hybrid - "... silliest...."

I agree that it's a silly thing but scammers have been known to take pictures of things they don't own and post bogus adverts on craigslist.

I guess I'm just at a loss to explain how someone could know so little about something he would own.

But he probably DOES own it.
He probably WON it in a card game.
He probably NEVER rode it EVER.
Because there is no way that someone that clueless paid money for it!

Heck, sometimes people are just dumb. They dont know the truths to things, have been told lies etc etc

Example - I had a guy on the tennis team when I was a senior that said that he had a turbo on his eclipse. He didnt. He had some odd looking intake on it. He truly believed he had a turbo cause someone lied to him.

Yes, there are scammers out there, no doubt. But then there are also people who just say dumb stuff cause either they dont know or they are trying to pull the wool on someone.

Who knows.

I want to apologize for polluting this thread (and section) with posts that clearly do not belong here. Sometime I type faster than I think.

Don't laugh, it happened not too long ago. I don't remember the places very well but I think it was a Badwebber from Germany posted that "his" bike was for sale in a Kansas City Craigslist ad. The pic even had his garage in the background. Some Badwebbers tried to contact the seller and the ad was taken down. Scammers will try anything.

Don't think there's any need to apologize for polluting the thread. Don't think the original poster and early followups were very serious. . . and yeah the "peace pResident" eh. go figure

"I want to know how you get a 1200cc Buell out to a 1340cc---- "

Simple.

1. lift seat
2. replace bike with road king
3. lower seat.

It has been done before : )
