Hi,

I have for my buell S1 Strike a rear linkage system from Wilbers supension.

My parts :
http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/4406/wilbers2.j pg

On a bike from Twin motorcycle web site :
+++ jpeg +++ 621628 +++ +++

http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikelen/61 90FB50-1229-4BCD-AF91-DFB921601B86.jpg

But now I need to find the shock absorber only for this linkage Kit. The shock is used on another project and I no have it longer with me…

On the Wilbers Webs site they say it's a Type 631 shock, but with no more details.

I have contact Wilbers factory to ordering this shock or obtain the exact reference for ordering it on a retailer, but they say to me they not sell the shock only !!!

They propose to sell to me a new complete kit …. And I think I can use my actual linkage kit like a seat … ; )

It’s clear I don’t want to pay for parts I already have paid !!! It’s a really un-commercial answer I think.

So please have you some information for me or an idée to find another similar mono-shock ?

On the spring I can read this information: 46/46-70-185

Do you have an idée of what they significant ?

If someone have this system on his bike please can you send to me information we can have ?

- Length of the shock eye to eye
- Strong of the spring

If you can help me … more than Wilbers want …. I really appreciate …

With this information I can try to find another shock from another brand.

Thanks in advance for your help….

Wish I could help. Those shock kits are so rare it is hard to find people who know much about them.

Thanks Edgarr for this idea.

I'll send a mail at this subject today.

I also had found a french shock builder who have calculate the power of the spring, and they probably can made a personnal shock absorber for this system.

Hi Bollox. That Wilbers setup is supposed to be amazing. The linkage allows the shock to work in a conventional way. They are very expensive and that fancy linkage and the work it takes to make it explains why. That setup is not common in the US. I myself have only seen them in photo's. In the US, the Penske shock is the hot setup. I would consider that route before shelling out the money needed to buy the complete Wilbers kit.

I have received an answer from Beemer :

Wilbers don't want to sell the shock alone as they allready say to me in germany.

But I have received from Beemer more information on the shock, it's cool :

----
I only have specs for the kit for the X1 as follows, I hope it's the same but it's the only specs I have:

311mm eye to eye length
67mm stroke

You already told me the spring rate 46/46-70-185
Which is 70nm spring rate

Best regards,
---

I think the spring is the same for S1 and X1 like the weight and the swingarm is similar.

But have you an idée at this subjetc ?

bitubo in italy makes the shock that works in compression like wilbers.
try and contact them, you might be lucky and be able to use the linkage you have with their shock...

Thanks for the suggest.

I have send a mail to bitubo for information.

But I think to ordering an EMC shock, like they can build a shock on demand, and they are near my town.

Now I have the specifications of the original one.

Just someone can confirm to me if the spring rate is the same for x1 and s1 ?

if a shock is being built.....

Have it done for your weight and normal gear weight you ride with.

I just had an AST resprung for me(250lbs for rider and gear).

Bollox, there's a guy in Germany(?) Xldevil, who has one of these setups on his bike. There's pictures of it under the M2 picture section Archive through January 02, 2008 http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/327398.html?1199310706 I sent him a PM a few months ago asking him what it was as I'd never seen that set up but didn't get a reply.

Loki, the shock isn't orderd for the moment, because I have tried to contact Hyperpro and Bitubo for informations about her product.

But like I haven't any answer I think to buy it on EMC, the factory is just at one hour of my house and they have a good reputation on race product.

They say they can make the same shock than the original, or adapt the shock on my demand.

Kiwicris, I also had seen this post and like I had sent a message to Xldevil for information...

But like you no answer at my side...

But now between the answer of Beemershop and the help of a french rider who also have this system I have all the information I need to rebuild a right shock for this system.

If you can see the thread on the french forum : http://buell.actifforum.com/t27936-tub-info-sur-sy stem-wilbers
