Got a chance to install the BTR shifter kit I bought.

Had a slight fitment issue that I corrected, but otherwise a straight forward install.

I REALLY like the new shifter. Compared to stock it is light and precise. I didn't have a single mis-shift today while riding.

The real test. I was able to find neutral every time I tried it, moving or stopped.

That's a really slick setup.
My main objection to the shifter upgrade to the 2001-2002 was that the shift lever no longer pivots on the footpeg.
This upgrade still pivots on the peg and that makes me happy.

My Uly has the standard shifter that XBs get and I'm not really a fan.

How much of your money did they take for that?

That was one of issues I had with both the Banke and upgraded Buell shifter set-ups. From a mechanical standpoint, you lost the lever advantage in both of those. In the 06+ gearbox, it isn't really an issue. On these old tractor trannys, it can become downright painful.

The kit goes for $170 which I thought was very reasonable. She is in between production runs, and so she had to scrape together parts for my kit (I got mine for $120). The long shifter rod was the wrong size by about 2". I just cut it off and re-tapped the threads and all is good.

What's cool is that it's pretty easy to swap around and make a reverse shifter pattern if so desired.

i still stand by the fact that my banke shifter was easier to use than the stock boomerang

Cool as in who the hell designed this abomination and why does it flop around like a flaccid wiener.

I don't know... seems like a lot of moving parts for a shifter to me.

My '02 is a little stiff when it's cold, but otherwise fine.

Thats simple fix... just use some shim behind it and its tight as anything. If you cant figure that out on a stock shifter you shouldnt be riding a builder's bike. =P

It already had one behind it. Didn't make a difference.

I just didn't like the feel. There was too much play in the two long levers to get a good positive shift.

There are lots of parts, but none of them move loosely in the direction of shift force. Because both the "banana" and cast shifter shaft piece are both long the distal end provides the greatest amount of defection translated back to the toe peg. In the stock set up, you could have an inch or more of lever travel with no corresponding shifter shaft movement.

Add shifter shaft movement into the equation and it's just "sloppy". With this set up, because the shift shaft lever, mid lever, and rear lever are all short, the distal deflection is reduced.

Plus I have a greater degree of adjustment and modification. I couldn't do GP shift with a stock lever.

Where would one get a shifter like that?

It looks great to me. Sounds like it works great as well.

I've asked BTR that question, and the woman I spoke to didn't know which shifter I was referring to. I don't know how to send her a link to this thread, although I told her where to look. Haven't heard back yet.

Maybe someone a little less pc dense than I could contact them and send a link?

I wanna buy one before I run out of Buell money!!!

Yes, B2R is in Yakima Washington. You can find her on Facebook. She's got some nice pieces.

I am trying to get Al to handle a group buy so that she doesn't have to pay to become a sponsor.

If he is willing and you guys are satisfied with the product, I hope to be able to get a few more items on Al's shelf.

I'll let you know what I find out from Al.

I like the top triple/clip on mount. She says that there is an additional mounting point that you can add that will allow the clip ons to be mounted and use the manta tank.

BTW The carb mount was/is one of a kind! It's about a $400 piece. The aluminum was $200. Solid one piece carb mount is pretty trick. I used to have a breather set up but it's been along time since I've been able to produce any of these parts. I'm trying to get things done but I have to stand in line with all the other customers now. Don't have my own machine as of yet.
