Well...

Plane Ticket - $127
Gas - (1600 miles / 40 MPG) * $3.00 = 40 Gal's * $3.00 = $120
Food - (6 meals) * $5.00 = $30 (Keep Mouth opened while riding for Snacks!)
*Lodging - $60 * 2 = $120 (Might stop two nights, probably just one though...)

397.00. Closer to $400.

*I forgot about lodging. When I was 30ish, Phillie to Panama City in one session was routine. Now that I'm the other side of 50, and riding a Buell, not a Beamer, I'd better count on some stops...

I'd count on a little more with food as well - $5 meals are possible but not particularly nourishing and you'll spend nearly twice that per day just on snacks and bottled water/gatorade. I find myself eating and drinking at every gas stop when I'm in 'travel mode'.

Ahhhh...I tend not to eat much while in Travel Mode. 2 Dbl_Cheez_Burgers, Fries and a Large Diet, and I'm good for 8 hours! Not what you'd want to live on, but filling and Cheap. For a Twist, Hold the Ketchup, add Mac Sauce, and you've got the Poor Mans Big Mac!!!

Hey, maybe I can try out my Buell Hydration Pack on this trip! Anyone ever use those gadgets?

I bought my 99S3 on ebay, had it shipped from Illinois. It was exactly as described, a little nicer than I expected. BUT...the seller had put an open megaphone exhaust and a Power Commander module on it and there was no way I would have ridden it home like that. (to Calif.) Also, it needed two new tires. Unless you have a chase truck, I would say ship it and take it on short local trips to see if it's dependable.

As far as cheap restaurants, I went on a 4,000 mile bike trip to Wyoming and the western U.S. eating Denny's for breakfast and Jack in the Box $1.20 Jumbo Jacks and a glass of water for lunch. Cheap, and fairly nutritious.

Last line from CL add:

"Ready to ride to Daytona and back."

This bike has just been gone through by the dealership, has New tires, fresh fluids in both holes, and received a Clean bill of Health.

Also, my Brother is Back from Euro-Vacation and will be examining the bike in detail today and tomorrow. Then he is going to "Shake it Down" for me for a week before I get there, and I'll spend 2 - 3 days there riding it. Then I'll put the Seller to the test, and see if this bike truly IS ready to ride to Daytona & Back. Or at least to South Central Indiana.

<sniff> I smell a Happy Ending!

I hope it works out for you. I imagine you will be taking the most direct route home so you may not get a chance to drop down into Colorado... If you do let me know. (take plenty of pics)

Also, make sure you take a copy of the B.R.A.N. with you just in case....

Thanks!

Yeah, going Just Above Colorado. Straight shot across I-80 through Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, and into Indiana mid-state.

I've got my Rough list from the Bran page, and I'm going to narrow it down to who I'll be within 50 miles of while Blazing through the afore mentioned states at the SubSonic speed of MACH .1! (75 M.P.H.)

Other than getting a Sore @$$, or weather not cooperating with me, this should be a Smooth trip across the Heartland on a Really Cool bike!

What are the Deer Populations like in those states these days? That will probably determine how late I'll drive into the Night...

Game On!

Bike is paid for, and I fly our Sat morning...I'll take the camera along, and document the Adventure.

The buyer is starting to get a little "Jittery", like he thinks I'm the Scammer everyone has Warned him about! Maybe it was my Fake Nigerian Accent...

Anyways, I'm glad to be Saving a Tuber / Bagger, and look forward to putting Mucho Mille on this Mule of a Buell!

If they guy has been paid, why would he get jittery? If anything, you should be worried that the thing is a scam on his end, lol.

Exactly! I guess he figures somehow the money will MAGICALLY disappear from his account over night or something. But my Brother in SLC had a face to face with him, rode the bike, and even offered to RIDE it here for me. It's Everything it was advertised to be. I have no worries about being scammed. And to make the Seller even more comfortable, I'm not taking delivery of the bike until next Monday. I have another brother Kayaking in Zion National Park, about 300 miles away. We're gonna head there as soon as I get in to SLC, and stay until Sunday afternoon. This will give the seller 3 days to see that the money is not going to Vaporize. He's outta town until Sunday morning anyways...

So the Journey begins tomorrow! I'll take LOT's of Pics, and maybe start a new Thread once I get back.

Until then!

Great trip on that thread!

Mines done. Disappointing visit though... Home safe, GREAT Bike! I'll post Pics later today / tomorrow.

No pictures of the trip. My wife needed the camera for work, and left it there. She thanked me for charging ALL the battery's though...

But no riding in SLC, no Kayaking in Zion. Zion is pretty much a days drive from SLC. So no one wanted to make the trip to ride, or to kayak. Plus Brother in SLC had Job Drama, so he needed to stay close to home...

Threat of Bad Weather all the way home. Missed 99% of it though. Icy Cold out of SLC, into Wyoming. Caught the tail end of a Severe storm with an Aerial Funnel cloud spotted in Cheyenne. Constant 25MPH winds with 40 MPH gusts made an interesting journey! Hooked up with 2 groups of Father / Son(s) that were wrapping up cross country tours. 2 from MI, 3 from Ohio. We rode together from middle of NE to the Quad Cities on the Iowa / Illinois border. Traveled a constant 85. Blew past RADAR traps, no Worries! (You wanna pull over 6 Harley's? Plus only 10 over most the time...) There were V-Rods, Electra-Glide Classics, and Street Kings in our group. What bike do they stand around at look at during re-fueling? My humble S3T! The V-Rod rider offered to swap rides for a leg, but since my bike has no plate on it yet, I declined. Tempted though!

Only stopped 1 night. My hands are still pretty useless, and my @$$ is sore! The Corbin Seat is Great! A touch on the firm side. But with the extra pressure from negotiating the wind going straight into the Hind Quarters, breaks about every 100 - 125 miles became mandatory. The Boulevard rider can only go about 140 miles between refueling, so he was the weakest link!

Well, better go scrub some bugs off my New Bike!
