Phelan? i thought you already skipped the whole PITA bracket with stock forks BS and went with XB forks? got any pics of your work?

That is very similar to what I had in mind when I thought about using the stock forks. Looks good.
Is it 6061?

No, I had a buddy build me a bracket of steel in about an hour. He's a wizard with metal. Same guy that adapted the Edelbrock A/C to my carb.

doesn't look bad at all! roughly the exact same shape as my 2nd revision. LOL


And yes, 6061-T6 billet alum. the first two designs has nicely shaped openings similar to the forks and Phelans bracket and was 3/8" thick... but after a thousand miles of testing the alum showed some serious stress points. the part you see there is my 5TH version and has no fancy holes in it and is 1/2" thick. after extensive testing of heavy braking (140mph-0mph), stoppies, wheelies (this doesn't exactly test the brake caliper bracket but it is fun : D) and day to day stop and go traffic (over 1200miles), this last design is showing to hold its own VERY well. almost ZERO stress points have developed.

this is the only other pic i have of her.

those wheels are off now and the 14" mags are back on. i bought it midway through a restoration and i'm saving up to complete her. : D
