Went for the first ride today after I finished the swap. The tires that came with the wheels are in decent shape but I can't say that I like them. Diablo front and Sportec M1 rear.
Will most likely change them to the Conti's that I just bought but I will need to buy a new rear in the 180/55 size. Anyone need a nearly new Conti Road Attack 170/60?
Anyway, I need to get the fork a bit lower in the clamps to speed up the steering a bit but will need to change the bars to slide them up anymore. Not too bad now. The rear spacers worked awesome and the pulley is lined up nice, no belt walk.
The perimeter brake is sick. Soooo much better than my old set up and I had Lyndall Golds on there. Besides the obvious weight savings, the brakes are well worth it. Both wheels weight significantly less that the cast tuber wheels.
I didn't like the red/gold combo at first but it is really growing on me.

Nice job! Are those X1 forks, or did you switch to XB forks?

The tires look pretty well straight-driven from what I can see. I think you would have a lot better impression on them if they were new. I've never used a Metzeler, but they are owned and made by Pirelli, which is the only tire I endorse. Of the different models of tires I've ridden, the Pirellis always felt like they held the road better than the others, particularly the Diablo Rossos. I'm currently running the Scorpion Syncs though, which I really like as well.

Is your plate on the back of your oil tank? If so, how'd you attach it?

And like others have said.. sweet looking bike!

Yes the rear is pretty flat in the middle which makes the turn in a bit abrupt. I cannot comment on the front tire much but it is not nearly as flat as the back. Will most likely run them as long as I can and try to take some of that tread off of the sides!
The plate is mounted just above the oil tank. It uses the stock plate mount (i think). It was like that when I bought it. The plate light is there also. When I get my carbon undertail, I am going to change it up a bit as when I have a passenger, the plate rubs on the tire at times.

Another thing people don't realize about tires is that even though the front keeps tread for quite a while, I can cause handling issues if it hasn't been properly inflated the life of the tire. They get flat spots and whatnot that aren't always easily visible. Make sure to check your tire pressure before every ride if you ride less than twice a week, and at least once a week if you ride everyday like me. You can lose quite a bit of pressure in a week.

Very nice.

XB forks - did you have to mess with wheel spacers at all, or did the stock trees space the legs correctly?

What spacer setup did you use on the rear?

Been thinking for quite a while that my S1W would look (and perform) awesome with some white XB wheels.....

I did not have to mess with any spacers in the front. XB forks, wheel, and stock axle all bolted together.
I made spacers for the rear out of aluminum. I will be posting more detailed info about the spacers soon, including a drawing with dimensions that I used.

i had the front done for a while, just test running it over the last ridding season to make sure the caliper bracket wouldn't cause any issues over the long term. i like to ride long distance at least once a year and i don't want to run into a problem.

its all apart now getting cleaned up with final adjustments and now i'm working on the back with and caliper bracket so the rear will match the front. it was funny to ride around with a silver front a purple back wheel. LOL

No, still the stock forks. Just had to spend a lot of time making the bracket... probibly should have gone the XB fork route, would have been easier, faster, and probibly even a lil cheaper, lol
