I currently have Crossroads bars on my X1 because the OEM bars were too high for my taste. I like the looks of the Crossroads bars but they get uncomfortable quick... What are my options for something in-between? I see a lot of people going to the Renthal bars but I want to keep my stock guages and it looks like all of the Renthals have the cross member in them.

Thanks Brin. Where is the best place to see and order the different selections? Or is it more of a one size fits all?

I have seen at some motorcycle shops were they had displays with the different bends of bars that would be a good place to look.

The good thing is that these bikes use the same bar size as most of the jap company's so you can get almost any bar to fit as long as they are not the fat bars.

I got my suprbike bars off of ebay for pretty cheap and they are pretty nice.

i have a set of low pro-taper bars for sale. Only thing is you need to convert from 7/8" to 1 1/8.

What do you want for the crossroads? could do some type of swap

when I look for a bar set,I look for a down and back bend ,to meet my hand at a natural angle as you raise your hand from your side and it lies down on the bar as you grip it.
to grip i mean with the thumbs, indexes and little fingers .with this i do not need throttle helpers for longer rides. plenty of fingers for the other controls and to hang on with if needs be. I have pitchers elbow and shoulders.

Thanks for info all. Purpony -what are the details? Can you send me a picture? Also I am still not sure of a few things.
1) I see a lot of bars for sale that are 7/8 but for Purpony's post it looks like they need to be 1 1/8???
2) Anybody run aftermarket bars like this on an X1? I sent Al @ American Sport Bike a message and he thinks they will hit the tank at full lock..

I have had a few people ask about pics, just have not had time. Ill make time tonight.

The pro-tapers start out at 1 1/8 and taper to 7/8 at the ends to install factory hand controls.

you would need to convert using something like this

http://www.preeng.com/xcart/product.php?productid= 13&cat=5&page=1

http://www.preeng.com/xcart/product.php?productid= 4&cat=5&page=2

Fat bars give the bike a beefer look.
Ill post pics tonight.

Thanks Purpony - After some research I think it would be easier to not use the tapered bars since I am using the guages.

I think I am going to try the Superbike Bars from Cycle Gear. The rise and pull back is 3" which is a little more than I think I need but I can return them if needed.

I never thought buying bars would be so difficult; too many choices and according to all they probably wont work anyway.

If you're changing bars on a tuber, be sure you check the width of the center section on the new bars--the tuber bar mounts are pretty wide. I think you need at least a 6" straight center section.
