I've got a 2000 M2, it's my first Buell, was running like sh*t when I got it, spent a month getting it all straightened out, took it for it's first ride today, goes like hell is an understatement but I can't tell how fast I'm going since the speedo does not work to my surprise! From what I gather from reading here it's most likely the sensor. Lights work and bulb and odometer show but the actual gauge doesn't work nor does the mileage increase on the odometer. My question about the sensor is that I see on here that it's been updated to include a voltage regulator which solves the problem of frying them. But I also read someone mentioning getting updated wiring for it. That was in an XB forum so I'm not sure if that's an XB specific issue or not? Assuming it's the Speedo sensor that's bad can I just get that? Thanks | ||

You can also use HD speed sensors. The only difference from model to model is the length of the cable. I ended up with a Dyna speed sensor on my 2001 S3T when I had to replace it at Sturgis a couple of years ago. I just coiled the extra cable length under the battery. |
