Not without some fabrication. They are not a direct fit. |

...Some fabrication. I think it's worth the effort. Just don't want to destroy a perfectly good M2 tail section. |

You got me: Buy It Now!... Too good to pass up? The shipping almost makes it not worthwhile: $84. |

Can't be that hard, don't the S3 and M2 share the same frame? I can take pics of my S3T if you want to see where the bags mount and how that mount attaches to the frame. I'll get part numbers of the S3T parts that attach to the frame if that will help you. |

Yo Barry - Not necessary, just wanted to see mods to M2 tail section, for bag clearance, taillight, etc. |

Not that difficult to do if you can fab even a little. I did this for my '99 m2 a few years ago -sorry no pictures. The main frame will bolt up, although I offset it a little with a small pieces of flat bar for better fitment. The rear bracket required a spacer bracket about 8" long (I used 2 pieces of 3/8" tube welded to more flatbar)and a little grinding to match up to the frame. This is the part I butchered with my birdsh*t welding "skills" but it worked fine and couldn't be seen under the bags. No mods to the frame necessary. S3 Fairing is a bolt up with the right parts, too. I say do it. (Message edited by chinspoiler on September 02, 2009) |

All I had to do was relocate the turn signals. Everything bolted on just fine. PM me for pictures if you want. Chinspoiler is right the S3 fairing also bolts right on if you have the spider, and with little modification to the wiring you have an M2T. I plan to put an X1 chin fairing on this winter and make it a XM2T? M2statz |

"M2T" -- I like that designation! M2statz, post some pictures...sounds like your ride would be a good one to see! |

I've done this complete conversion. 2000 M2, S3 fairing, X1 chin spolier and now 3T bags. Everything but the bags are a bolt on. The bags are not difficult, but fab skills are required. I find it interesting that some say this is a bolt on. It is not, M2 and S3 do not use the same frames. I'm testing the wide covers today. I'm finding that the bags loosen up a bit in riding and I want to see if wide vs narrow makes a difference. I have 97-98 bags with the large knereled knobs. I'm not happy that my laptop doesn't fit too well in either of the bags! I haven't shot any pictures yet because everything is still raw. I want to make sure it all holds up before paint or powder. My main goal was to not change the tail or plate holder, so it will still look like an M2 when the bads are off. Once I pull it back apart I'll shoot pictures. I'd say if you have the skills or the money to have someone work it up for you, do it. Going to the S3 fairing totally changes the bike. It's a good Change! |

Kmbuell - ..."laptop doesn't fit too well". Well that's one of the main reasons for the project: I take my laptop home and back to work each day. Currently using soft bags, which I can get my whole laptop soft briefcase into. Going to do the conversion anyway. Could always throw on a laptop backpack, ugh! |

Laptops hate vibration. You could use an Aerostich Courier Bag. It will completely eliminate the vibration issue and is easy-on, easy-off. It is much less cumbersome than a backpack and has plenty of room for a laptop and notebooks, etc. Hard bags are still a good idea (I like them on my S3) but my laptop travels in a Courier Bag. I will try post some pictures tonight but my hardware lined up almost perfectly. I justed needed to get a set of L-brackets to go under the tail section plastics. These are meant to to hold bag bracket to the frame. After I heated and bent several different prototypes my wife suggested going to ACE Hardware and getting some 2inch corner brackets. Those lined up perfectly. I hate it when she is right! I carry my laptop in a Kelty back back on my back. Will work on getting those pictures up later. Happy Buelling! M2statz |

For the purpose of this conversion the only significant difference in the two frames is an "extension" on the rear of the S3 that bolts up the rear/center saddlebag bracket. This "extension" can be fabbed as a bracket - this and a little tweaking makes the project pretty much a bolt on. I've had mine on and off, no worries... The M2 with an S3 fairing and X1 chinspoiler looks great. Did that too. |
