If you really wanna go old school, why not do it with a genuine, made in the USA, circa 1985 Bell Helmet?

Rex,
Have you checked the lining of those helmets lately? The lining of my first Bell, circa 1975, turned into a pile of black granules several years ago.

My long retired (and granulated) Bell MotostarIII still has vintage - circa 1980 - mud on it.

Brand New or not they dry out and the foam is no longer able to absorb energy.

General reccommendation I've heard/read is to replace at ten years regardless of apparent visual condition.

Yeah, I have a Simpson(anyone remember those?!) that I bought new in Nov 83 along with my GS1100E.
I took it out last year for the girlfriend and the foam on the neckpiece was just powder inside the cloth. I guess the open cell foam has a shelf life. The rest of the helmet looks great. It even matches my Buell Volcano Gray pretty close. Got an Arai last year when I bought the ZX-11. NIce helmet.
