Stopped by the stealership today to pick-up a few things.. While there I sat on a 2009 XB; man those things look great but boy are they cramped!! Compared to my X1 with crossroads rearsets and flat bars I felt like I was on a child's bike. It would take a lot of getting used to and I am an average size guy (5'10".) To each his own I guess. | ||

I stopped by to and sat on the CR and loved the feel hated the radiators, And forget about repairing the bike yourself. I love my tuber as well. I got my eye one an xb12 It was a totally different feel than a tuber, I felt like a was on a scooter until i hit the gas!!  | ||

I agree about the cramped feeling on the XB models. The XBR's seem a little more stretched out to me, but it would take a while to get used to riding any kind of distance with that much weight on my wrists. I'd love to have an XB some day - the kicker for me is the handling. I love my X1 to death but it will never handle like an XB. For now comfort and sentiment take priority over handling and reliability, so I'll stick with my tuber! | ||

In my experience, the long wheelbase XBs are quite similar, handling-wise, to the tubers. That's the Ss, STT, and Uly. I'm 6'4" and I feel a little cramped on the 52" bikes (S, SX, R) but they're actually pretty accomodating once you get familiar with positioning. They just handle "twitchy" to me, compared to the 54" bikes and the tubers. And the seat-bar-peg triangle on my tall-seat '06 Uly is flat-out ROOMY. Not nearly the personality of my S1W or my S2...but I can't ride the S1W all day long, and the S2 doesn't hold quite as much stuff as the 3-bag Uly does. I still love 'em all, though  | ||

Never sat on the Uly. It does look larger but doesn't really appeal to me looks wise. Of course if money and space were limitless I'm sure I would have to have one! | ||

S2 doesn't hold quite as much stuff as the 3-bag Uly does Wanna bet Joe? The S2 is very capable of being loaded down. It is a matter of bungee hooks. While the Ugly, I mean Uly, does have big bags it misses the mark on so many different levels. You know your getting old when you think hard bags on a bike is sexy. | ||

i have both bikes (S1 and XB12Scg) and i must say they are 2 different universes! the S1 is a fun bike, small and with a powerful torque. but you can tell there's still a lack of suspensions, brakes and definitely the tube frame is still not designed as a Ducati one, for example. the Xb is a definitely better designed bike, less torque that the S1, little bit faster, better brakes (still not amazing though), way better suspensions, especially the mono which is fully adjustable, a corner machine! it handles like a champ on a twisty street. you can trust the bike in every corner and get in a curve at a higher speed compared to a tube frame. also the Pirelli Diablo give a better feeling that the Dunlops. always speaking about stock bikes... but i see the tube frames as a romantic way of living a bike, without all this monster HP and torque, the 4 cylinders, the Ohlins suspensions more than the Brembo monoblok brakes, or the radial master cylinders! it's a timeless machine, an hybrid between a chopper, a sport bike and a street fighter. a unique a beautiful bike....  | ||

and definitely the tube frame is still not designed as a Ducati one I would agree compared to a current Ducati or the 996 and 999, but if you compare a tube frame to a same year Monster (a much more fair comparison don't you think?), it is every bit as good, maybe better. | ||

Or am I thinking of someone else?  Don't hate on Big Bird, LOL. You're right, you can carry a lot of stuff on an S2. Lots of it, for me, is a trust issue - I put braces on my S2 bag supports to keep them from flopping and wagging so much (really stabilized the bike, too, at highway speeds), and let's face it...they're not the best luggage design out there. Sexy as hell, and fully functional (especially if, like us, you have both sets of lids)...but as your "abandon ship" luggage from Homecoming demonstrates...not really the optimum setup. My Uly...I go from one bag (top only) to three bags in about eight seconds. Everything stays inside, nice and dry. Helmet fits in a bag when I park. And nice stout mounting system, no 'faith' issues with these. Don't know about 'sexy' on a Uly...definitely more 'useful' on this one. Probably why I never feel compelled to wash the thing, it looks better when it looks 'used' Each has its own pluses/minuses. I'm gonna go enjoy some pluses in a minute, have to ride to PT (therapists *love* when I ride a motorcycle to my appointments, lol). | ||

Yep Joe, when I took that Uly for a test ride at Homecoming, after the "hard bag incident" I was impressed. I have been talking myself out of a Uly for a long time. You busted me!  I do have confidence in my hard bags again after some modifications and everytime I see a Uly I find myself drooling over those damn bags. I came real close to pulling the trigger on one but the dealership ruined it for me. So I went to a Buell friendly dealership and they were sold out. There is a 2006 Black Uly on ebay from a Buell challenged dealership in Colorado Springs. It has been on ebay a couple of times. I do not know what to do. I could trade in the 07 XB12R but doubt they will trade straight up. My bike is in a lot better condition than that Uly. Decisions decisions.... Frank | ||

Yes Brad, the S2T is the last bike I will have. It is just as capable as a Uly (I don't go off road anyway) and a ton sexier. It requires more preventative maintenance than a Uly but that is just part of the charm of owning and riding a tuber. I have a list of things to do to mine this winter and spring. Aux lights, GPS, isolator replacement etc.... That is half the fun. The absolutely best thing about the S2 is the owners. | ||

Well Neil, I don't think that is going happen but it almost happened. I was going to fly to RDU and rent a Uly and ride down but due to non-Buell events I will not make it this year. I hate the fact that I can not make it. I would love to see you guys again. I hope Derek is still riding. Nothing wrong with a Uly, but....... I'm a S2 guy. I know I have a problem and I read somewhere that is the first step to recovery. Frank | ||

I say I have a bigger problem. Nevrenuf nailed it. But you know Zac, even though you never owned a tuber you are a tuber guy at heart. Come on down and ride a 95 Pearl White S2. Just imagine the class in riding a vintage work of art to a place filled with chrome and Fullers. Of course no matter if it is a tuber, fuller or cooler they are all still Buells. | ||

I kinda of like that feeling of being way to big for the bike. It makes me feel like I have more control over it. I love that feeling of being able to flick it. I love the flickability. I have an old GPZ550 that has much flickability. But the tuber just looks to damn good to swap out for a xb. Wish I could have both. | ||

So how many Buells is too many? My X1 is a keeper, but I want a CR, and an XB12Ss and/or XB12R, and a CityX for Vamps... ... and Uly's are growing on me... An S1W would rock... And the idea of turning an M2 or something into an RR1200 replica interests me... Hmmm, must buy a lottery ticket this weekend... | ||

Lemon, thats how it starts. I recommend several 12 step programs to help you out . I love different things about each bike. Your right, the S1W rocks. I love riding it around town and to some "biker" hangouts. It is loud, mean and nasty. I love it. The S2T is a great long distance bike and classy. The 95 S2 was just fun to rebuild although I did not have to do a lot to it and besides I just love the looks. The Uly, well it is new. It and my 95 S2 are my daily commuter bikes. I look forward to some long trips on the Uly as well. I was never really taken by the Uly until I rode one and I knew the Firebolt days were numbered. As Neil would say, Never Enough! I sat on a 1125CR I really liked last weekend! Damn it! Tubers, Fuelers and Coolers are all good... Frank  | ||

now that you have finally admitted to having a problem frank, you can now get on with the rest of your life. and that's what the nevrenuf stands for. we still need to get the wife another scg to replace the one that i wrecked a year ago at buelltoberfest and i think i can see me on an 1125cr one day and although it's not a buell, i still want to have the screamin eagle ultra or even a roadglide SE. i'll never get rid of the m2 and hopefully (knock on wood or my head since wood isn't available)i won't wreck her. she's to good of a bike. glad to see you with the uly and i know you are enjoying it. | ||

I got into Buells after years of riding vertical twins, then H-Ds and a REAL Indian. I loved my XB, partly because it sounded like a Harley, but it handled. At first i had real issues with the sound of the 1125R. But, this new Rotax motor is in NO OTHER Vehicle... The 1125 is the first Buell that SOUNDS like a Buell, and NOTHING else. I WILL have at least one tuber, someday, just 'cause I love old machinery. Especially when it has CLASS. Z | ||

I love my Buell M2. It fits perfectly. Just the right height, length, reach to the bars, and you can see the motor. I love to see the motor. I like the XB in theory, but it does not feel right. the closest one so far is the 1125 CR. Not quite there yet though. Would like to have that motor in my M2. REX  | ||
