Installed the new Forcewinder intake today. Spent +$400 on a piece that had to be cut on to fit properly. Not a big deal but irritating... FWIW the instructions were worthless for someone that might need them; not sure they even went with this unit. Unbelievable. Rant Over.

Both of the FWs that I have used were ordered for the application(1fulie, 1mikuni),both required adaptors specific to there use.

Where did you have to cut,and how much?

I had to trim the breather tube and install a longer flex line. Nothing major but like I said - not a cheap part I expected better. If I hadn't used the flex line the unit would need spacers so the breather tube would properly clear the frame.

Sorry I still don't follow.

Where on the tube and what flex line?

The tube that makes an "S" from the head and curves back into the breather. The kit came with 5 or 6 inches of hard line and a 2 inch flex line to join. As it came there was NO WAY to connect the line into the breather. The hard line also rubbed to frame; after several miles I'm sure the tube would have a hole rubbed in it.

I'm assuming yours is for an FI?
It almost sounds like you're missing a piece. Maybe you got one for a different app. I do remember the instructions being less than desirable.
I went out to take a look at mine and as it turns out, I'm definitely missing the piece that goes into the breather. That's gonna cost me....

Easy_rider - Yep FI. If vented into a catch can it is a non-issue. Here is a pic of all the pieces you should have.

After looking at the picture I noticed mine came with 2 gaskets and an metal spacer also.

That is why "i" used OEM parts to make a ECONO Force ...

Used the OEM SNORKEL installing a K&N RC-380 on the end ...

It is the length that Erik Buell tuned for the engine ...

Improvised mine so that if "i" want to look RACE'IE the AIR BOX is left off ...

Yep- Hope this is not an expensive lesson in how to decrease performance. I did keep all my stock parts.

My S1W has a Force Winder on it, along with a Minkuni carb from when I bought it. The shop told me what a pain it was to get it running right. But it sure does run!!!!

my other m2 was dialed in pretty good with the stock carb and a yost power tube after i put the forcewinder on it. i can tell the difference with the mikuni up in the mountains and down here in tampa. i'd just as well go back to the stock again on this bike.

The pieces in the pic look just like what I've got (or had). Sorry you had a bad experience.

you can get rid of the breather tubes all together. I found a e-bay co. that has a cast piece that bolts to the breather holes and is vented internally straight into the flange that bolts to the front of the carb, not sure about fit for F/I body. The name was Debrix if I remember correct. about $90

I have a Forcewinder on my S2, and it was bolt-on-and-go. I put it on at the same time as my Force pipe, but I can tell a difference : D.

I have the Forcewinder on my FI S3 -- before and after dyno runs show it really helped. I do remember the instructions being very worthless -- but with a little patience and common sense it came out with the "Sano" look promised in the instructions.

I loved that the instructions said "Sano" -- for a good week or 2 my buddy and I called everything "Sano". Kind of like watching Slingblade and then saying "I reckon" for a week. What can I say -- I'm easily amused.

I really like the look -- the performance and the clearance. Even people that don't "get" the Buell comment on the intake --

My bikes mods
W/Force 84hp
W/Buell Race filter 92hp

(that was even with two hours of dyno tuning to get it all dead nuts perfect...)

I did a lot of reading before buying it. Everyone had different opinions so I thought I would give it a try myself.

I'm thinkin you got the wrong spacer.

The EFI FW was for a customer, the Mikuni was mine. I don't want to remove the intake and air duct from my X1(trying to keep it O/E or close to it)which is still EFI.

My mutant motor has the Mikuni, but no frame members to deal with...it was cake!

I found one on a site in Germany and it was carbon fiber and it was $435.00 i love it but cant afford it that's ridiculous amount of money for an intake. The intake i got on now im borrowing until i can afford my own, And it still $285.00 dam its a filter and some aluminum!

My Dyno runs showed a good improvement over the stock lunch box I'm sure the Race Can had good results on your Dyno but 8hp seems like a lot. Were you running it with the rain cover on? We did a dyno run with mine both ways and the cover definitely robs performance. NRHS has some Dyno info that also shows the Race Filter as making more HP than the FW but only by a slight margin. I think they are both an improvement over stock -- I liked the clearance and the mechanical look of the FW -- and at the time I couldn't find an affordable race filter anyway -- got my force on Ebay for 179.00 -- 400.00 is way out of line -- there's one at an EBAY store right now for 199.00

IMHO tuning in the real world on the deserted back roads with a FUEL/AIR Gauge set-up is my answer to a DYNO ...

Oldog, The breather fittings are Aluminum. What issues would one expect. It sure looks alot more "sano" than the clear lines off of the heads.
