I have an '02 S3T with approx. 30K. Been the best bike I have owned, rode BMW twins and K bikes for 30 years. I did a recent track day, what a blast. What is the experience of the BadWeb, will these bikes hold up for that kind of abuse. I am considering an SV650 but actually would prefer the Buell. Not really planning to hot rod the motor but rather just flog it as it " more or less Stock". No pretense of winning races, just out to have a good time. I was quite pleased with performance on track with other competitively comparable bikes. I just automatically figured the Suzuki SV650 would be less costly to put on track and likely better withstand the abuse. In my local area I can buy for about 3K a track ready SV650. Will the tuber Buells provide a good track day or novice racing platform? | ||

Would you rather wreck your S3T or an SV650? If you are going to race, and/or aspire to race, time to get yourself a dedicated bike for that purpose. Preferably one that won't make you cry when it highsides/lowsides. If it's just doing trackdays, your S3T should be fine. Don't forget to change the tires & fluids a little more regularly than "average" & keep up on maintenance. Just my $0.02 & YMMV (Message edited by p_squared on May 05, 2008) | ||

You are correct, dedicated bike required. The money for either SV or Buell is more or less the same, but Buell would be ride of choice, M2, X1, etc. I just was curious how the Buell would hold up in comparison to SV.... would it be solid enough on the dependability scale in comparison or would the the thrashing be too much. | ||

It would probably hold up just as well or better and be as, or more reliable, but the difference is that a tube frame Buell is a rare bike while and SVs are dime a dozen. Why take a rare, beautiful bike and beat the piss out of it? Do a track day with the Buell now and then just to keep it happy, but if you're going to be racing or doing more than a few track days a year, get the SV for that. | ||

It's better a tuber be used hard as a track bike than be used as fodder for a CHOPPER. | ||

i have been running an S1W for a track bike for a while. it came to me as a track bike as someone else thinned out their herd. it has finally become consistent(teething problems) and lots of fun but the sv650 ex-race bike i picked up is actually a lot easier to go fast on. that tuber works my ass off to go kind of quick. anyway, i have been riding the S1 in the mornings and the SV in the afternoons on my track days. the 1125 kicks both their butts, though!! i also recommend a track only bike as sh1t happens and it is easier to fix the track bike and keep riding the street bike than not riding and having to fix your only bike. tim | ||

As someone who races a tube framed Buell myself, get the SV650. You will work your ass off on the tuber and it takes a lot of mods for it to really go fast. | ||
