Well I have been cuting, chisling, bending heating, and beating and so far I have made a heavy duty pooper scooper, It was looking servicable up to the 1/2" radius just forward of the turn signals. then as "makeits" some times do it went south. I wanted steel and strudy the results have been less than stellar so far any input running outa time. |

You could try to copy the old Banke piece. I don't think it's made any more, but seems pretty easy to make. |

Aluminum plate works great. Take an acetylene torch and heat it with an acetylene only flame to soften it after you get your initial cuts. Makes it very easy to work with. Once you get your shape desired heat it up the dip it in water to retain the shape and stiffen it back up |

Oldog- here is the link that inspired me to do my own. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Track/6161/x1fe nder.html My own is made of plastic and follows the Banke coutours... I used a $3.00 3-ring binder and it has held up for 6 years. |

Jim, I dont have a recess in my undertail... and I have NOT rubbed my tire on it... I dont know what your ride weight is on the rear wheel, and how you like your settings... But, I am over 200 with gear on, and havent touched.. I have done some short 2 up, and dont think I rubbed then either.. Chase |

i screwed up on the above post. don't reheat the aluminum after working it, it will make it too brittle. I would check into 1/16" inch. Also the gas only flame will make it really sooty, but it wipes off. I also don't think you will need the recess unless you 2 up ride, or are just really heavy. |

Sorry, I don't have any pictures. My bike is in storage for the winter. However, I guess Banke still makes that piece. It seems to have tripled in price, though. I bought mine maybe 6 years ago, and it was barely 60 bucks. I don't remember who I bought it from, though. Anyway, enough blah blah blah. Here is the link. http://www.bankeperformance.com/buell/tailpiece.ht ml |

Thanks PK Al sells that at about the same price its aly and looks nice Andrew Thanks for that link I had forgotton about that, It was a good job and what I should have done I would be done with it If I had. I have some steel for the plate bracket and I guess its time for a trip to "slows" for a chunk of alum. Chase I am heavy see the "get it on thread" ( working on that too.) next is installing an HID light set up, the wiring is a snap except for the Balast install its bolt in Thanks all. I did the mod with aluminum plate. I cut a template from cardboard and verified fitment. Then transferred the pattern to aluminum and cut out. Gained access to a metal brake and formed the shape to roughly fit the tail frame. |

Here it is roughly in place. I made some minor tweaks to the curvature to close match the tail.

Attached it with stainless machine screws and fabed a plate mount to finish it up. My profile gives the general look.
