Hi, and tips? My S3T when getting hot and in traffic idle gets erratic, dies of idle and stumbles about 2,000 2,500 rpm, 175 degrees oil temp. Was riding in cool weather, not problem till weather heated up. Installed new TPS before, was running great. Currently no error codes showing up....??? Any clues or tips? Thanks!! |

When you get it up to speed, does it run OK? |

Yes, it runs good up to speed. It was running just great but recently got the bike, and it started happening in hotter weather. Pulled the plugs and looked a bit rich, and back plug had oil on the threads of the plug. |

Check your O2 sensor, could be dead or going wonky on you. |

Installed new TPS? My need to re-zero? Clean the throttle body and valve -- especially at the interface. Gunk here causes erratic air flow. Then re-set idle speed. Leaking intake seals? Spray while idling and see if rpm changes. If so, need to change seals. |

Kinda sounds like an oil pump wet sumping to me. As only when hot and at idle and very low speed. With oil on at least one plug, but still runs good at speed. Just a guess, how many miles on the motor? |

There is supposed to be a vacuum plug under the throttle body. Make sure it's still there. |

My engine temp sensor went bad and I had similar problems. Although when I tried to manually run the code -- jump the wires -- that code did not come up. Dealer found it first shot -- very impressive. |

Hey, thanks for the great tips....I will check over all of these items, let you know if I find a cure. Rode 250 miles today, got 55 mph riding two up and running about 70 mph. Was running good, oil temp about 150-170 but idle is still erratic, at times running high, kind of lumpy. I have new engine temp sensor, oxygen sensor, and will check for missing carb plug and other items... Christian |
