I like to tour -- hoping to put on a couple of thousand the first week in May. The original windscreen on my 2000 T-Bolt is scratched and tired, and never provided much comfort unless I lay down. Thought about maybe getting the +3 screen from American Sport Bike -- anyone running one? I also ran into a guy from work that runs a "Laminar Lip" and swears by it -- anyone here ever try one? |

I think ebutch has a laminar on his S2, check the S2 pictures thread, I think it's in there. I run a +2 Gustafsson on my S2 in the cold weather and love it (I think that's in the S2 taller windshield thread). I'm 6'4" and it gives decent protection for a non-faired (it really is a *mini* fairing) bike. I have to hunker down a smidge with the +2 on because it moves the turbulence wave; with the stocker I'm pretty much above it so it doesn't bother me. But the +2 has a much bigger pocket for me to hide in and get out of the cold and rain. I have noticed more of a tendency for the chassis to react to crosswinds with the +2 shield on compared to the stocker, the bike wobbles a bit more behind trucks and stuff. Nothing to make one slow down, but you do notice it and have to pay attention. |

I've been running this one for the last two years http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/6002.html I like it a lot. You'll immediate notice reduced buffeting at freeway speeds and it seems to move the slipstream from hitting me in the upper chest to above my helmet. |

I bought this S3T last year at the end of the season (I'm in WI) and have only put about 20 hwy miles on it so far. I had a Zero Gravity (+3?) on my last S3t and this Laminar lip seems to direct and break up the buffeting even better. Loved the Zero Gravity but I suspect I'll enjoy this Laminar lip even more. (sorry about the bad photo but it's the only one I've got) |

Have the S3 fairing and S3T bars on my M2L. I believe I have the Zero Gravity high shield, ( see profile pic ) and last season added the Laminar Lip. It looks like the above pic. I think the Lip actually would give a bigger improvement to the stock shield, than it does to the taller one, bearing in mind it's not a magic fix. Before the Lip, I had smooth fast air hitting me on the shoulders and lower 1/2 of helmet. After, I have a more diffuse flow hitting in about the same place, not turbulent & buffeting mind you, just not the fire hose focus of the Zero G shield. The noise level changes to a duller roar, if that makes sense. I thought after a 120 mile trip that maybe the Lip made things MORE noisy, removed it, did the same trip the next day, and put it BACK on. I'd recommend either or both products. The Lip seems fine at high, ( 100-120 ) speeds. Your riding position, body shape and helmet make a big difference in this, YMMV. I'm a long torso'd heavy 6 footer with a Suomy Spec 1-R, & it's loud. ( With the Suomy, you REALLY want ear plugs or noise canceling buds. ) |

Thanks All -- At $84.00 I think I'll give the lip a try with my stock screen. Pat thanks for the high speed feedback -- on their website they talk about high speed running as 70 mph, Most of my running is 75 to 80 with a redline in fifth thrown in every hour or so -- my buddies describe my riding style as incompetent and slow in the twisties and A.D.D on the highway -- |

I have the +3 screen. Its better than stock, but really not 'that' much. I'm going to add an MRA adjustable spoiler to it to see if I can 'tune' the wind blast a little to work with my exact height etc... http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/2 710/339/ |

The Laminar Lip, ( LL for short ) uses the windshield screw on the S3 fairing for it's rear support, and round patches of Uber velcro plastic knob-lock or what ever they are called, on the front edge of the LL. Disconnecting the plastic locking material took me a Butter knife & an attitude of frustration & great care. It's not going anywhere. I check the adhesive connection from time to time by pressing down on it. The adhesive is the weakest link. Plus side there is no hole drilling & installation was easy enough for a klutz like me. Let us know how the MRA spoiler works. |

You say it is secured with screws to the back -- how hard is it to remove? |

The LL uses the 2 screws closest to you. The ones that hold the screen onto fairing. + 2 plastic ubervelcro bits. Removal is 25 seconds for the screws & a couple of minutes sliding a rounded butter knife into the ubervelcro. Easy. |
